This hotel is small and old, but it has lots of character the location is wonderfull, you walk anywhere.the rooms are small but complete and clean we only had breakfast and that was excellent. The outdoor terrace is cozy right on the street. Parking is a problem but once you know you way it gets better.

My husband and I first visited this restaurant 5 years ago on our first trip to Heidelberg. We liked it so much that we came back when we visited Heidelberg again last week! (We did not stay in the gasthaus). The tables outside were taken, so we sat inside (as we did last time). We really enjoy the homey and cute... More

The Hackteufel guest house was lovely and especially the room at the very top with A/C and a view of the castle. Centrally located to everything which is walk-able and a terrific restaurant to boot. They were extremely helpful in guiding us about. Public parking is a bit of a hike but if you come early enough you can drive... More

I lived in Heidelberg for 2 years and this is my favorite place. Located down from the Alte Brucke one half block. The restaurant has musical instruments made into lamps. The setting is old time Germany and the food and service is excellent. Could not even finish the pig's knuckle. Hotel upstairs is quaint and well appointed. Its a romantic... More

Don't let the Hackteufel scare you! It is a charming, conveniently-located hotel and restaurant in the heart of Heidelberg. It's about a 10 or €11 ride by taxi from the Bahnhof. You may think it's only a restaurant as you enter, but walk to the back and registration is just on your left. Our room was spacious and clean, and... More

This is our favorite place in Heidelberg. Well worth the price. A small hotel, the building is 400 years old an nicely restored. The restaurant is wonderful. Excellent food at comparable prices. The decor is wonderful. Look for the vintage band instruments hanging over the tables.

Having been to Heidelberg twice before I knew exactly where the hotel was so was expecting some noise. Our room No 11 faced an inner square. It was so quiet. All the outside noise was blocked out and we slept with the window open. The room had lots of space and a good amount of drawers and hanging space. The... More

A small hotel (only 12 rooms). The good? An excellent location right by the old City Gate. The rooms are simply furnished, but clean. The bad? Six of the rooms face the street which is right over the hotel restaurant entrance as well as a café across the street and a gelato store. The noise level, even with the windows... More

Oh my. This hotel is really overrated. I was shocked at the great reviews considering what we found. If you are looking for a good experience (I said good – not great) and are well traveled (outside of just Germany) then you will probably have a similar opinion. We stayed in Room 2. It’s notorious for the noise. The noise... More

Stopped for a nibble in between venues on a 'city tour!' Everybody with us had garlic soup except for me. I had the best bowl of hearty Potato Soup I have ever had. I wished I could have bottled it up and brought a gallon or two home with me. Those who had the Garlic Soup seemed to like it... More
