I spent three days at the hotel on business and had a very pleasant stay. Room was clean and well kept and the dining room with its historic connections to the student duelling clubs was a delight. Excellent local food I had both Zander and belly pork which were superb, excellent service and fine local beers. Why stay at an... More

This hotel, across the Neckar from all the tourist throngs, has marvelous service and a very authentic aura. The three day package includes a private tour of the town and castle by a lovely lady guide, plus two meals in the hotel, plus breakfast and tickets to the museum and, while we were here during the music festival, tickets to... A warm welcome after a long drive was the beginning of a very pleasant stay in a building that breathes history. A spacious room and bathroom, comfortable (4 poster) bed, a superb breakfast (included when you are a member of the SLH-group of hotels) and good food in the historic Mensurstube (menu choice is a little limited but daily specials... Dear MetooAmsterdam, Well, "metoo" would like to visit Amsterdam again... - such a nice city and so much in common with Heidelberg, still a couple of less bridges..;-) Yes we look after our SLH guests, and are proud member of this fine corporation of independent privately owned hotels. We started adding now in the Mensurstube great culinary classics, for instance... More

I just stayed there for one night. I wish I could have stayed much longer. The elegant, classic, cozy atmosphere is present everywhere. The staff is very friendly and cooperative, yet professional. The cuisine is outstanding; i can understand why they just got their first Michelin star. All in all makes this place a jewel, especially if mixed with the... More

From the moment we arrived we were greeted warmly and offered a glass of prosecco (or punch) and a piece of Stollen! It was a wonderful way of being welcomed after a long drive and much appreciated. The hotel is very quaint and traditional. It is elegantly furnished and while some reviews have commented that it is out-dated, the hotel... More

This is NOT a chain luxury hotel. It is a traditional Heidelberg hotel in which you can bathe in student history from the time when university students crossed swords, drank beer and were mostly drawn from the German upper class. The downstairs bar still sports the original wooden benches where students drank and carved their names or initials. Bismarck's name... More

A short business trip made more pleasant by the choice of a hotel that is possibly more for leisure guests. Our suite was spacious, spotlessly clean and .... A temple to the chintzy style of hotels popular in the 80's and 90's. Great hospitality from the owners and their friendly staff and two restaurants to choose from. The gourmet restaurant,... More

Dear Michelangelo, Thank you so much for the positive comment on our property. Yes, your impressions should be considered by many other travellers. Why go in a modern anonymous business hotel only because you are on a business trip? Especially if you are lacking a family, whilst in corporate mode, we are there to help out with warm and friendly... More

We had a lovely weekend at the Hotel Die Hirrschgasse to visit the Christmas markets. We were greeted with a warm Kirschpunch on arrival and a slice of delicious Stollen. The service was warm, yet relaxed. Despite arriving late, the staff were able to seat us for a late sitting at one of the two restaurants. The food was wholesome... More

Dear Julian, You are in good company! Your preference with the lovely perspective of Heidelberg coming from the Hirschgasse you share with William Mallord Turner - the famous British painter, who eternalized Heidelberg castle from the Hirschgasse on canvas. All the other points which you report are absolutely true and we could not have described them any better. Thank you... More

This hotel is a gem in every sense of the word. First, it has history, which you can see and sense everywhere. It is not often that you get to stay in the same place as many historic figures. You can feel the energy. The decor is so comforting and comfortable, you immediately relax and are transported. Upon arrival, i... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Expect to find a very homely luxurious country style hotel, which has been designed by Lady Laura Ashley. All rooms and suites are differently appointed and have individual names. People who rather like a modern hotel atmosphere with Bauhaus design and big lobbies, will perhaps have to make an extra effort to understand the over 540 years of history, which has been mentioned by Mark Twain already in his book "A tramp abroad". Our special approach towards a very personal welcome pampering style is well liked. ... more   less
