This is a great 500 year old hotel. It is one of the sights on the old town walking tour. Parking is a little difficult if you are driving. The rooms a comfortable and the staff is very helpful. The restaurant is good and the location is great. We liked it much we and going back next year.

This is a very nice hotel and I would give it a 5 if it had AC. We stayed there two nights. The temperatures were in the 90s and with no AC it was a little difficult to sleep. Other than that, everything was great. The staff was friendly and the location was great. Breakfast was very filling. I would... More

My family and I stayed here for two nights in August 2013. I chose the hotel based on the location and historic appearance. Definitely neat to stay right on the Alstadt- although it gave my husband a heart attack to drive up onto the cobblestones through the crowds and past the outdoor cafe seating lol. The parking was a bit... More

A marvelous hotel, close to Heidelburg castle. Charming staff, Nadine was extremely helpful. Location in Alstadt means driving on the a pedestrian street drive down Haspelgasse, hotel is in front of you on HauptstraBe cross street. They will provide directions to the convenient parking garage. At the ground floor of the parking garage is the entrance to the funicular car... More

The hotel location is excellent - in the heart of old Heidelberg town center with a lot of nice pubs and restaurants in just a few meters around. Although an old building, the rooms are big enough and very quite. The lack of free internet is a minus.

Location was key to this hotel! It was absolutely unbeatable. The hotel itself is a little outdated but I chose it because of its beautiful facade and historical features. Overall, I was pleased with my choice.

There is a moment when "historic" is starting to get "outdated" and i'm afraid thats the case with this hotel. The hotel looks marvellous from the outside but the rooms (i had 109) definitely have some catching up to do. You can see the hotel has been modernized in parts: the showerhead was new, teh bath was old. The bed... More

This hotel is just lovely. So oldy worldy, ornate and located right in the middle of the town. We were there on a Sunday in Autumn and had lunch in the restaurant. The tables were beautifully laid and we had the fish and it was delicious. There are two restaurants, the Ritterstube and the Belier. Not sure which we dined... More

Sitting in the center of old Heidelberg, across from the Cathedral, is the historic Zum Ritter. The building is old, the interior dark, and the decor is tired. But if you prefer location and ambience over sleek and modern, this is the right place. We had a large (for Europe) room facing the main square with great views of the... More

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel zum Ritter St. Georg for about a week recently. The main attribute of this hotel is its location; it is right on the market square and thus in a central position for the main attractions of Heidelberg (castle, Philosopher's way, church tower). However, we found the drawbacks to outweigh the attributes. Our... More
