The short walk from the train station offsets the longer distance to the old town. You can easily take a bus if you don't feel like walking. I wanted to walk, however, and their friendly staff guided me to the few things that were happening on a Sunday afternoon. The dorms and bathrooms were very clean and there was a... More

Spacious hostel in a former warehouse[?], short 5 minute walk across from the train station, through a small shopping mall and out the other side. The entrance is on the side facing the mall. Big kitchen [ 3 hot plates, microwave, and toaster oven], free tea and instant coffee. Basic breakfast available for 3 euros. Three free desktops available in... More

Travelled solo, stayed in the five bed female dorm two nights. A few minutes, less than five, from the train station. Third floor up in the red brick building, the staff in the info office at the train station know where it is and are helpful. Bit of a walk along Bergheimerstrasse to the Altstadt, but very do-able. Well planned... More

The staff was friendly and checking in and out was easy. We had a private room, and our friends shared bunk rooms with groups. The room itself was dusty, and didn't feel very clean. There was also dust on the cups in breakfast room. The breakfast wasn't all that good, but was cheap. The bathrooms were clean and comfortable. There... More

SUCH a great hostel! Free tea, coffee and bread rolls were a perk. Clean, comfy and warm rooms. Great common areas too! Seperate bathrooms were also clean and functional. Just a short and easy bus ride away from the Universität Platz/ town centre or a longer walk) I had a great stay here. Will return!

My friend and I backpacked all over Deutschland in summer 2014. We were very excited to stay at Steffis Hostel in Heidelberg as one of our friends had given us a favourable review. It located very close to the Hauptbahnhof (just 2 mins walking) and also has a tram line running close to it. The hostel is clean, value for... More

This hostel is well located and easy to find from the bus/train station. It is as some say a little far from the old town, but we knew that, and to be honest it is an easy 25/30 min walk, nothing to complain about. The facilities are clean, showers are hot. Lots of doors to stop the noise travelling. Big,... More

Stayed 2 nights with 3 friends in a 10 bed dorm. Facilities are clean, beds are comfortable and breakfast (standard fare) is cheap. Bunk beds were noisy and lockers weren't very solid. 2 minute walk from the Hbf, 20-30 minute walk from city center. I definitely recommend staying here!

This hostel is fairly new (2009 or so,) located near the main train station in Heidelburg. Note that it is located a fair way away from the Old Town - about 2.5km. It's a longish walk through quiet streets (45 minutes or so,) or a tram/bus ride away. Still very convienent if you've got a train that arrives late or... More
