Hotel Zum schiff is not as depicted on their website. I don’t know where from they picked their 4 stars. They are the kind of 3 stars hotel you would find near a highway. This is why I chose it. It is a clean hotel for a stop-over stay but definitely not for any kind of holidays. It is located in the outskirts of Freiburg that look like a little bled. Hôtel is located on the main street, but if you ask for a quiet room you’ll get it. Room was OK, not really my style but clean, surely not “the modern first-class hotel rooms” they pretend to be. Bathroom had a large shower. Breakfast was nothing extraordinary, just like on a highway.
Another surprising statement on their website is:
“Our sauna and solarium together with our impressive landscaped gardens invite you to relax in and around the hotel.”
I haven’t seen any of those. They do have a garden but it’s small and ugly. They do have a sauna somewhere hidden behind some not very appealing door.
