I loved my stay in this place in December. it is a globe-trotter's paradise, heaven for the artistically inclines and provides an amzing spiritual experience. In Freiburg as such there are not many options for stay, but this came us a surprise for me. The staff at the BFH are very friendly, My favourite are Fleur and Julia. I loved... More

Stayed in the Hostel for just one night. It is a hostel with a high hippy/spiritual feeling :-). We stayed in a room-for-two, which is not very large, but roomy enough. The roomdoor had a lock (I read somewhere about doors without locks). The beds were very good. Hostel is clean and the young staff was nice and helpful. Kitchen... More

As others have said, there aren't many choices for hostels in Freiburg, and the Black Forest Hostel was closer to town than the other option. I stayed in a 17 bed dorm, but it wasn't even close to full either night. Conveniently placed partitions create an illusion of privacy, which is nice. The bed was comfortable, but it was 4... More

There're not many choice for hostel seekers in Freiburg. If we think about this, this hostel is not a bed option, but not a best hostel among overall hostels around the world. I stayed 8 beds dorm which has all single beds and this is quite good.(not bunk beds and big room.) But the room was a big cold and... More

This is one of the only hostels in Freiburg and the way they advertise themselves makes it seem way better. Maybe it is better in summer, but when I was there it was not great. There was a kind of weird atmosphere, not that welcoming or comforting, just generally, and I found my dorm mates to be very inconsiderate so... More

I was there for two nights because I needed a place to stay in Freiburg for university. All in all it made my time in Freiburg to a total nightmare. It starts with a undefinable funny smell in the entrance, high prices for almost nothing, you have to pay for every basic thing you like to have such as sheets.... More

I stayed for three nights here in an 11-bed room. Clean, comfortable (there is an additional charge for bedding) and good kitchen if you want to cook while you are there. Black Forest has one of the best common areas I've come across at any hostel, wide spaces, lots of cushions and chairs. As a solo traveller, it was a... More

This curious hostel is what I would like to find in every city: multicolour, curious furniture and accessories, a large living room and kitchen, to prepare your meal and meet interesting people. I've been sleeping in the largest common room, I was a bit scared because of the noise. It was summer and the windows were open. Well, the relaxing... More

My friend and I stayed here for three nights over a weekend in August, this time in an 11-bed room. It was my second trip here. On arrival, check-in was friendly and easy (we were even shown to our room), and from that point forward the things we particularly appreciated were: - clean, bright and airy rooms with plenty of... I stayed at the Black Forest Hostel with a group of friends and we weren’t really sure what to expect after reading previous reviews.. We did have a brilliant two day stay but the hostel certainly isn’t to everyone’s taste. The cliental of the hostel seems to be young, “alternative” travellers, some of whom appeared to have been staying there... More
