We prefer staying in historic hotels and Le Fer a Cheval has an excellent mix of history, classic Alpine decor and great service. It was lovely to have a swim in the pool and rest by the poolside after a day of skiing. The breakfast was also excellent! We stayed there in late March and would love to come back... More

Very nice traditional Alpine-style hotel with a lovely interior. Lot's of wood everywhere. Open fireplace in the lobby area. The lighting in the rooms is indeed barely adequate, but that's really almost the only drawback. And don't take a room directly above the bar. Food was great and so was the spa.

Spent four nights in July-August. Wonderful indulging hotel. Would love to come back again. Beautiful traditional decoration and furniture, elegant but not snobbish. Convenient room, great shower, excellent bed. Slept very well. Nice balcony in room. Excellent service. Attentive kind staff ready to help quickly at any time. Daniel of the reception was of great help, explanatory to the last... More

We stayed at Le Fer a Cheval for a friend's wedding in September and it was a lovely weekend. The staff was very accommodating from our check-in to our check-out. The property is walking distance to downtown Megeve and its shopping and dining. The room we had was quite large, with a nice sitting area and fireplace. The bathroom was... More

I went to a wedding hosted there and it was phenomenal. Hotel is a gorgeous ski chalet, beautifully decorated. I had the best sleep there because you can close the shutters for complete darkness. Hotel is located a 5 min walk from the town area. Beds are very comfortable too. The only thing that I was not used to was... More

I struggle to understand how this otherwise lovely alpine hotel got 5 stars with so many structural problems combined with a feeling like they are being cheap with certain services. While it may have been down to just bad luck, there were other guests who, having spent the week there as well, would not go back for the very same... More

Megeve is a terrific ski area and Le Fer a Cheval is truly a world class hotel in a lovely mountain setting. Service is impeccable and the rooms are lovely. Even minor requests were treated with eager and efficient dispatch. You could see the staff's willingness to provide guests with every need as they rushed between tasks without ever letting... More

I don't know the Hotel Le Fer à Cheval, but the restaurant is a disaster ! French arrogance, poor service, food not fresh. It means below average. Mediocre. It was a very bad surprise, because this restaurant was presented as the place " you have to be" in Megève.
