we stayed for 2 nights in April during our tour in France. Athena hotel was one of the cleanest and well managed hotels we stayed at. the location at Part Dieu is just perfect for travelers who seek mobility and easy access to public transportation. Train station, bus station(more than 10 lines), Metro and tramway are at a 2mn walk.

A pleasant hotel for budget travellers but rooms are pretty small. Anyway, its budget so nothing to complain about. I love the fact it was beside the train station as well as directly opposite their Centre Commercial which was the largest shopping mall in Lyon which has Galerie Lafayette and a couple of major shop brands. Breakfast was pleasant with... More

This hotel looked good on the web photos and blogs. We were very disappointed on arrival.... although in close proxmity to station, that is where the good news ended. Unless you require a bed overnight whilst transitting by train, this isn't the place the stay. The staff seemed like they were there just to do a job, with a lack... More

We were glad to be so close to the train station for our 7am train but otherwise didn't find the place too flash, though it was cheap and clean. We'd booked a twin, and were originally given a double. We were put into a twin as soon as we told them but the room reeked of cigarette smoke. There are... More

Stayed here because of the location and free wifi, the whole surrounding area of the hotel is quite depressing, next to the main train station of Lyon, lots of clochards, drunks and beggars. The rooms are tiny, not particular clean but the shower was working well. I find in overal the choice of hotels medium priced in France way overpriced... More

This was a great place to spend a night. Handy to the train station and great service. Very little noise from the street but was a little noisy in the hotel. Doors creaking and noise from other rooms. Breakfast was also good and reasonable.

Rooms : Clean if a little small. Noise: None that I could recall. Aircon : A little stuffy, though opening the window will mean that you hear the incessant "alert" from the train station right next door. Cleanliness : Clean and the towels are changed appropriately. Breakfast : Nice, filling, generous and GREAT COFFEE. Budget : It's not a bad... More

I got out of the train station late at night & had to leave the next morning at 7am. I wanted convenience. I saw a neon light advertising 52 Euro weekend rates. Came into hotel and saw posting for 80Euros. I'd spent about half that in 2 star hotels in Lyon & the surrounding area that week, but figured I'd... More

We arrived by train to Lyon Part Dieu station, and it could not have been easier to find the hotel. The location was great for access to the metro for sightseeing, as well as the large mall across the street. There were a few restaurants in the square, as well as in the mall. A short walk to Les Halles... More

I stayed in three different hotels at similar price or quality standards during my time in Paris and Lyon. This hotel room was noisy to the point of not being able to sleep (lift workings, air conditioning making high pitched noises of metal on metal and another fan wording intermittently). No way should this be in the top 7 hotels... More
