Loved our stay in this well run, very clean hotel. Our room was one of the "Corneille" range and was quite large. We had room 103 and it was well equipped and very quiet. The only draw back to the hotel was the chlorine smell from the pool which spread throughout the lower floors of the hotel. A pity really,... More

We stayed in this hotel for two nights in late April 2012. As others have reported, the location is stellar, with lots of good things to see and do immediately nearby. The hotel itself is warm, serviceable and has plenty of charm. The rooms were large (by French standards) and the bathrooms were super modern and clean. The quilts and... More

Excellent location, within easy walking distance to old city, Perrache, Croixe Rouge and even Paul Bocuse La Halle (excellent food market clearly showing french attitude towards food). We had the bigger room (superior) on 5th floor which was very well decorated with a large bathroom with window. The room was big for french standards and had windows to the street... More

The GH Des Terreaux was a first-class experience, fully worthy of the rave reviews it gets on trip advisor. First of all it is wonderfully located: it has to be said that most hotels in Lyon are near the train stations, either Perrache (area is dingy and rundown) or Part-Dieu (sort of ok, but characterless)…and both areas are removed from... This hotel is beautifully decorated, each room has magnificent bed spreads and curtains (Lyon was home for French silk manufacture) and modern bathrooms. the charm. Some are without any view at all (facing an wall) and some are very very small, but the color scheme and the luxurious use of material and interior design compensate for any shortcomings. We have... We spent two nights here this month and were very pleased. The staff was very attentive and largely English-speaking. Service was excellent. The rooms were of good size and very clean with plenty of amenities. We really liked the decor and interior architecture with the very old stone staircase. Breakfast was varied and substantial -- the best we've had on... More

Just back from a marvellous long weekend in Lyon. We stayed at the Grand Hotel des Terreaux which, situated in the heart of the 1er arrondissement is just about perfect for exploring all of the historic areas. The hotel is a real tranquil oasis in the heart of the city. Our room was small but very comfortable, tastefully decorated and... More

A cute little art deco hotel with art deco styling in the public spaces but more shabby chic antique in the rooms. It was great to have a bathroom and openable windows to lean out and check out the neighbourhood (from our 3rd floor room, we just saw rooves but still very picturesque). There was the usual miniscule lift or... More

This place could not have been more pleasant. A superior double had plenty of space and a killer bathroom. The front desk staff was always there when needed and could not have been more helpful. The swimming pool is bizarre but to each his own. Nearby restaurant variety is incredible. More

Plusses: + Spacious rooms. Please note - I was staying at superior double room, which is probably larger then average + Nice, efficient staff, speaking very good English + Very quiet + Fee WiFi Average: Location - it is very good, although probably visiting Lyon second time I'd choose to stay closer to Place Carnot. Anyway, the city is very... More
