The hotel's good locatation is perfect to optimize your walkings. My single room was simply, but clean and spacious. The staff is very kind. Very good cost-benefit relationship. It's a very old but preserved building. There is no elevator.

This hotel is in a convenient location except I could find no bakeries nearby for my almond croissant fix every morning. If you can afford it at all, I would spring for a larger room; I could barely fit in the wc. Don't bother with the breakfast here either. If I were to stay in Lyon again I would likely... More

We stayed in Hotel du Theatre for 2 nights back in May 2013 and we had a great experience! The room was small, but considering what we paid for just a shower room, it was a good deal. The best part about the hotel was the breakfast! We were served a typical French breakfast with breads, orange juice and coffee/tea... More

Situated in a great location in Lyon, this hotel is located on the upper floors of a portion of a building. Quarters are very tight for all aspects of the hotel, but room was clean. Breakfast was very European - some French bread, croissants, coffee, and orange juice. Hotel has no elevator, so be prepared to carry your luggage up... More

What a great, considered review NightOwl34 gave. I agree with everything that he / she said. We spent the last two nights at this hotel. For us the location was absolutely terrific, the area feIt safe to walk in at night (for example to walk to and from the nearby restaurants) and the old town was a pleasant walk across... More

What a wonderful little family owned hotel in the best part of Lyon. It central to everything and the staff and owners are friendly and obliging with directions and info.Reading some of the others' comments here, it seems that people expect 100 euros worth for 60 to 70 euros per night. I say that if you want air-con and elevators,... More

Affordable hotels in city centres tend to be affordable for one of two reasons. Either they are in undesirable areas, or they suffer from small rooms and a lot of stairs. This is the case in most city centre hotel I've stayed in; it's a consequence of the high price of property in desirable areas. Hotel de Theatre fits into... More

The Hotel du Theatre offers great value for money. The room are not smaller than in average French hotels and they are clean and quite charming. Bathroom is up to date, but for some reason there was no shower curtain. No AC in the room (not to be expected either), but a fan that was enough to chill the room... More

First off, Lyon is highly underrated as a destination. I would go again in a second and I would stay at Hotel du Theatre. We had a room on the same floor at the reception and dining area. We were told there might be some noise but we heard none. The view of the square was excellent. I loved waking... More

We had a room that overlooks the theatre and we were very happy with the views. Yes, we had to haul our luggage up four flights of stairs but the reward is that you get nicer views and less noise from the street below. Both the room and the bathroom are small but adequate and functional. There is no A/C... More
