Ideally situated. Just two bridges from the old town. Rooms and bathrooms modern and clean. Reception staff could smile a little more! Although we had booked, our 4X4 would not go in their car park. Even a small car had to retreat! I don't think it's that reliable. But the public car park only 100 yards away is modern, clean... more

Needed to stay in central Lyon on business so the travel department recommended this place. Summary - great location across the street from the Rhone and a short walk to fantastic restaurants and the city center. The hotel staff and management know the location is great so they get to mistreat guests and offer no service. Some experiences we had:... more

We got a great price which is the clincher here. The hotel is located across the river Rhone near the train station (within walking distance--15 mn) but a little walk from the historic center. We are walkers and Lyon is a great place to explore. The hotel is right next to a weekend farmers market with great homemade goodies--don't miss... more

We stayed here only one night in May 2009. The location is convenient to the Gare Part Dieu (only a few stops on the T1 tram) and a nice walk over the Rhone to the Place Bellecour. There is also a street market a few steps away every morning, which has great produce and lots of other items too. The... more

We recently stayed at the Mercure Wilson on business for 6 nights. The hotel is located on the other side of the river from the "main" part of town, but the walk over is not too bad. That side of the town is also a little run down and we were surprised to see that many of the buildings had... more

Just returned after 2 nights at the Mercure Lyon Wilson. We stayed in a standard double room which was modern and comfortable. Breakfast was ok but very expensive if not part of your room rate. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The location of the hotel is ideal - it is in walking distance to the main tourist areas plus the... more

Very well located, just 4 tramway stops from Lyon's main train station Part-Dieu, and also a short, scenic walk away from the city center. We even got an enormous room with balcony for no extra money. Breakfast is a little pricey, but there are nice cafés around that can serve as an alternative. more

We had a quiet, nicely renovated room on 5th floor for 3 nights. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was more substantial than usual in France. What may not have been adequately emphasised by earlier reviewers is the convenience of the hotel's location; it's just a block from the river (and a bridge over it) or a block from tram... more

To be honest I was a little disappointed with the Mercure Lyon Wilson. The location was fine, just over the river to the old town (about a 15 minute walk). The room however was very dated and was in need of renovation (which seems to be in progress according to other reviewers). We had a suite on the first floor... more
