We only stayed one night but the overall impression was good. Friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast, very comfortable room, easy on street parking and a short walk to the centre. There is a deal with a private car park but as it was just one night we popped a couple of Euros in the meter for the hour or... More

The location is excellent, near everything, but most rooms are VERY small - there was no space to open my luggage. Some rooms are renovated but are still small, some have balcony. Finally got a room on 4th floor with balcony which was a bit larger. There is no fridge in the rooms, nor minibar. The breakfast is very basic,... More

Stayed here for 6 nights attending a work training course in November. I probably wouldn't have selected it otherwise and while the staff were professional, I wouldn't say anyone was overly friendly or welcoming (no one was rude, it was just very official). When attempting to book it took two unanswered e-mails (through their website) before I got a response,... More

Old fashioned room decoration, everything is just OK, but you can see that it's all a bit old. Plenty of little details were not up to the standard one would expect of a hotel that declares to be ****: noisy room until I discovered it was the heating in the bathroom that caused the noise, the TV was unusable as... The hotel is well located near Perrache train station. The staff is very friendly. Our room and bed were small but comfortable. But even if we stayed there in October and we turned the air-conditioning on, it was very hot in the room. And as we arrived late on a sunday night, we didn't want go out to have dinner... More

After staying at this hotel for 3 nights, was pleasantly surprised. Very close to the Perrache station. Did not see any ladies of the night near the station which I had been forewarned about! Clean, breakfast very good and a huge variety. Well worth the money!

Well located , close to the Perrache railway station where you will find almost anything a simple voyager may need. The lobby lounge is correct. Enjoy a drink on the outdoor gardens scattered on calm and well kept pátios and terraces. The rooms are comfortable but the air conditioning was out of order for the last two days of our... More

In my experience Best Western Hotels are always querky and Charlemagne is no exception. The basic issue here is 'location, location, location'. The visitor needs to be aware there are two railway stations in Lyon and the TGV stops at both. Most people disembark at Lyon-Part Dieu and after you've found a ticket machine, that's an eight stop tram ride... More

The hotel is situated in a central area not far from the water front where the working girls display their wears. Lots of restaurants nearby and a convenience store for water and little items that you don't want to pay hotel prices for. The hotel room was newly furnished and I was situated on the 6th floor. The room was... More

Lovely hotel with great, caring and helpful staff. Our first night was spent in a room on the 'garden' side overlooking the church (be warned the clock chimes every fifteen minutes - although not late at night or early in the morning). This room was on the first floor and overlooked a playground which was very busy until well after... More
