Mercure Plaza République cannot compare to the usually neat Mercure hotels. Our room was narrow, very hot, with a tiny old-fashioned TV, and the bathtub was dirty. Front-desk service was good, breakfast was expensive and location was really good, right in the middle of Lyon's peninsula. There are better options for about the same price in this city. more

Good value room but absurdly overpriced breakfast (opt out and get a coffee elsewhere). The strenght of the hotel is its location, just behind the main shopping street. Otherwise its quite ordinary and generic, slightly above Ibis standard. The corridors need urgent redocorating. Fine for overnight stays if on business. more

The hotel location is good. Across the road is the Boscolo Grand Hotel and around the corner is the Hotel Carlton. Rue de la Republique (the pedestrian mall) is a minutes walk from the Mercure. this is in a good position, but very difficult even to unload luggage. there is a public carpark fairly near,but difficult to drive back again as so many one way roads. carpark was expensive.However we could walk from hotel to sightsee. room was small, but quiet, and the airconditioning worked well. more
