Incredibly friendly and reasonably priced, 10 mins from Brevant lifts and serving really good evening meals, this is the perfect antidote to chalet life and ideal for a long (or short) weekend. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable and create the ideal après environment. Well worth a visit for a few early drinks even if you're not staying there.

Stayed at Le Vagabond from 10th to 13th March 2015. Good location close to the South end of Town. 5 minute walk to ski bus (we had a car which is really needed for a short break in Chamonix if you want to use different ski areas each day) Staff were mostly Australian or English and very helpful and polite.... My dad and I stayed in the Gite le Vagabond Hostel for four nights from Tuesday until Saturday morning. On the Thursday afternoon the Hostel owner named Ella had an issue with four of the other people we travelled with where she threw their bags out the balcony window because they left them in the corridor. On the Friday morning... More

Stayed here last week, aside from the location being a 5m walk into the centre of Chamonix, I genuinely have no positive comments to make. Be prepared for a very 'robust' welcome from the Scottish Woman, whom I understand is named 'Ella' and works as a barmaid. Unfortunately, we committed the unforgivable crime of leaving our bags on the landing... More

We stayed in vagabond for 4 nights. As a couple on a budget we stayed in a dorm room. We got the dorm to ourselves for 3 nights. Couple running hostel really lovely and approachable. Really nice kitchen area! Close to town centre, nice view of alps! Clean and tidy. Enjoyed our stay. Recommended for those on a budget!

While the hostel is relatively cheap for the location - there are many downsides and I won't be returning for the following reasons: - The room I stayed in was filthy - it wasn't cleaned the whole week I was there - The 'kit room' which is actually a gardening shed - is not accessible until 7:45am - not good... Although the owner was very friendly and welcoming the premises and facilities need to be addressed.. Paying to use kitchen in a hostel is not what I expected, dirty shower cubicles, the bar closes at 10am then opens at 4.30pm so no where to sit or relax in day apart from shared dorm, wifi is free, but can only use... We were expecting simple, hostel-style living and they delivered. We had a small double on the second floor, #2. It opened on to a communal balcony with amazing views. Make a note if you want to cook, there was no cooking knife in the kitchen, so bring your own. Also I wished I'd had some salt. The sleeping areas were... More

I have stayed here on many occasions but sadly won't be going back. Initially struggled to get a place as they lost my telephone booking. Not a good start and it went down hill from there. The place was virtually empty and I can see why. To say the place is tired is an understatement. Good location but the bar... More

Pleasantly surprised by the B&B, great value for money, the location is brilliant, 400 meters away from the bus stop and just a short walk away from one of the main streets, very good conditions inside the B&B, very clean, a small boot room behind the B&B, very useful if you want to keep skis bags boots etc. Overall great...
