Hotel des lacs is one on the cheapest hotels in Chamonix and offers decent clean rooms. It's kind of spartan, has free parking (very difficult to find in other hotels) and a polite staff. After a week camping we decided to spend the last night of our trip in a hotel - big mistake! The next door hotel "le Vert" hosted a party that everyone seemed to enjoy - except ourselves...The load music got a little tiring after the first 6 hours but the encore of inebriated revellers making out on the bench below... This hotel is located one kilometer away from downtown Chamonix. If you're not willing to walk that far, there are bus and train services running through the stops nearby. Even though the hotel is not ideally located and the beds aren't very comfortable, it offers an excellent value for money, even during high season. There was enough space for both... More
