Very nice building, very well situated in the city center and close to everything. This old palace reminds of a gone splendeur of this city. The room was on the 4th floor with a very nice view over the church, the city and the lake du Bourget. Really nice view. The décor of the room was tired and the bathroom... More

The hotel is one of the last survived among the hotels built at the end of the nineteenth century. It is still furnished with the original furniture and the lobby is a real splendour. The single rooms are quite normal, while the double rooms are large and cosy. Very clean. Located right in the center of the city, close to... More

This hotel is in a nice location in Aix-les-Bains, on the square in the city center. The main problem we had with it was the temperature of the rooms at nice. This hotel has no air conditioning to speak of. One would think that it would be designed for natural air flow, but it isn't. Thus, when we stayed on... More

We only stayed one night at the hotel. We arrived well after check in time and were told in no uncertain terms that our rooms wasn't ready. After some negotiating we got another room, which according to the miserable woman at reception wasn't as nice as the one that had been allocated to us. Anyway, the room was quite nice,... More

This could be a lovely place to stay but unfortunately isn't because of the service. The description of the building online is fairly accurate but they don't mention that their staff are unfriendly and unhelpful. We were in Aix for a wedding and arrived to check in at 12.45 to get ready to be told that the room wasn't ready... More

We stayed at the Astoria as part of a road trip across France and of all the places we stayed it was our least favourite. As a young couple we found the staff were rude and unfriendly and the rooms needed updating. I understand that it is a period hotel and it should remain characteristic but I felt like I... More

This is a traditional hotel in a superb central location that has been sensitively modernised without losing its historical charm which is very evident both externally and internally. Rooms are large and comfortable, and there are small balconies that particularly in the direction of le lac du Bourget give great views - we'd recommend the 4th floor for the best... More

July 2007 Traveling on business. Beautiful hotel with a great location for walking. Right across from the park and some great bars and restaurants. Rooms were large and bed was great. This is a beautiful older hotel so be sure to ask for a shower if you want one(some have tubs). Parking was a bit challanging but we managed after... More

Good value and charming. Almost a "step back in time" experience. Huge(!), comfortable and grandly furnished suite, slighly worn around the edges. Very well located, with a close-by inexpensive and secure parking station. Helpful and friendly staff.
