I am so happy we chose to stay at Hotel Le Richelieu while in Marseilles. We had a room which faced the Sea (a MUST), not that we stayed in the room much, though. We were right next to a lovely beach, a nice walk away from the Vieux Port (with its own lovely views and numerous restaurants) and a... More

I stayed for three nights at this hotel in November 2013 The positives - very friendly staff who spoke English very well and were helpful. Gorgeous views and sunsets over the bay. Comfortable beds and very good shower. The lack of a lift is a disadvantage but it is an old building so couldn't be changed and the staff will... More

What is good- an incredible view of the sea, wonderful efficient cleaning woman that speaks very good English. Most of the desk staff also speak English and are very helpful. It is very close to train/bus stops, city center etc. What it lacks is charm. There is a strange strong smell when you walk in, like bleach There is no lift,... More

The hotel is right on sea side, which is one of the only benefits it has. For the price of a double room, I was expecting better conditions. Rooms are very cramped and the bathroom had serious issues with drainage and it was not very clean. Breakfast costs extra and wasn't very tasty. They only had instant coffee, no real... More

The room was small but super clean (even by clean freak standards). The staff was very helpful with transport for a day trip to Cassis and to Aix. Breakfast was plentiful and served in a room/balcony overlooking the sea. Our room was on the 4th floor but the view was so worth the climb- we could see all the way... More

We got their before check I'm time and our room happened to be ready which was great! Especially bc we had just arrived from an overnight bus. However at check in I simply gave him my name and the receptionist didn't ask for ID or anything to confirming was me. Very disappointing because technically I could have been anybody. I... More

Positive: (1) Sea view, (2) Proximity to the sea Concerns: (1) No elevator. (2) Staff barely speaks English Negative: (1) Check-in time declared as 13:30, we arrived at 13:45, but had to wait until 14:30, because room wasn't ready. (2) Standart room is not small, it's tiny: you get 4 walls, a bed, the place which is left is barely... More

First, Marseille is a difficult city to drive in. Fortunately, the Richelieu is right on the water, making it a little less difficult to locate than most things in the city. Second, remember that this is not a chain hotel. Neither is it truly a boutique hotel. It is simply a hotel in an old building that has the good... More

While Marseille in general was not our favourite stop on our recent European holiday, this hotel did provide a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy areas. About a 10 minute walk from Le Panier and an hours walk from the bigger "Plage" this hotel has a great location. Make sure you have breakfast on the... More

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights recently. I booked online and initially thought I had booked a sea view room, when we arrived it turned out I hadn't. After the initial disappointment of this, we were shown our room (29) and were really pleased with it. Two separate rooms, wide screen TV, free wifi, amazing shower with... More
