I was at Ryad in July 2014, and had chosen the hotel by looking at the enthusiastic comments on Tripadvisor. We were somewhat deceived, because the place is nice but not exceptional. The photos are much better than reality. The hotel is in a small street on the upper side of La Canebiere, quite close to St Charles railway station.... More

The rooms are large and bright and clean, and decorated in the Moroccan style. The beds are comfortable and large. The bathrooms are fine although, typically for France, the bath was too small (squeezing 6'2" of Englishman into French bathtubs is a recurring problem in France). The owners and staff are charming and couldn't be more helpful, nothing is too much... More

The entrance was kind of let down. The family was wondering if this time, i have got them a raw deal. But once we were inside, it felt better. A private home, once, seems to have been converted to the best that was possible. Our Dupleix room was outside in the courtyard. The fresh paint could still be smelt. The... More

Had to go to Marseille unexpectedly & booked this room because it got good reviews on tripadvisor. As some people say it's not for everyone. But we are seasoned 60+ year old travelers so we aren't as picky & don't get as intimidated. Granted it's on a side street that can be a little iffy. I was glad I had... More

I liked this hotel. It offered phenomenal value. It was exactly what I was looking for but I understand it wouldn't be the right hotel for everybody. NOT the right hotel for you if: - You are looking for a luxurious hotel, - You have two kids, three suitcases and a stroller. The hotel is in an old traditional house... More

We booked a night based on the reviews from tripadvisor and sadly it totally led us astray! The hotel is definitely not in a good location. In order to unload our bags we had to circle the block three times and throw them out of the car! This was really difficult with a child. The owners were very nice and... More

When we asked for the Ryad and passed the address, the taxi driver pretended not to know it. When we arrived, he told us that it was a rotten hotel in a bad district. We should listen to him and go and stay in the Excelsior. (In simple terms this means that it is in the North African district). We... More

We LOVED le Ryad. We stayed there in July of 2012 actually, a part of our 3 week honeymoon in France. Marseille is a totally overwhelming city, to be sure, and if you're expected to stay at the George Cinq, well -- stay in Paris. Le Ryad is totally gorgeous in decor, bed was great, bath and toiletries were unique... More

We travelled around France for several weeks in July & August camping, we stayed at Le Ryad for one night to recharge & sleep in a real bed and what a welcome we received. The owner was genuinely lovely and very helpful, even upgrading us because there was vacancies in the hotel. The room was beautiful, big and airy and... More

Stayed one night, good location... Just ignore the prostitutes outside all night.. Bed was very comfortable but the whole hotel could do with a lick of paint was all a little tired. Overpriced for what we got.. There was a very weird shower which wasn't a shower was a bath in a strange cave very difficult to get in and... More

Dear Amy and Roger B Thank you for your contribution on Tripadvisor. About the price of the superior Room Ahlem you booked, Le Ryad is about 10% less compare to the average 2013 prices of Marseille. Half price for a superior room of 27 squares, Wifi, queen size bed, Flat TV, Coffee Machine in the city center of Marseille doesn't... More
