We spent a very happy 3 nights here over Easter. This is really a great restaurant with rooms and a pool - it is not a hotel in the traditional sense. There are no public lounges, there are no porters, and the bar is very small (but extremely cosy and friendly, particularly after dinner). The main dining room is wood... more

We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights for my husband's birthday, as it is his favourite hotel. It was our third stay. The Colombe D'Or is I believe regarded as a national treasure in France, with its extraordinary art collection and history, still run by the same family whose grandfather accepted paintings rather than payments for hospitality. The collection,... more

The hotel is in a beautiful location - a charming building in a very picturesque village. But sadly the food and the service were not really up to par. The selection of dishes was completely uninspired, and the food itself was very rich and bland. I had veau a la provencale and my partner ordered lapin du facteur. To top... more

We had visited in 2007 and had a lovely day trip to St Paul, now to celebrate my 30th birthday my husband had chosen here as a surprise location. It definately ticked all the boxes! The service was relaxed but enough not to be seen as lazy. We initially dined outside and just as our main meal arrived the heavens... more

Avoid this place! The service is incomprehensible rude. The best french restaurants do not treat you this way. These type of places try to attract tourist that enjoy being put down and then in turn putting down the other people around them. The food's standard is average. Trust the negative reviews on this site. more

The Colombe was a perfect choice to spend the first night after arriving in Nice from the U.S. It took about 15 minutes to get there and they allowed us to check in early. Our room was charming (if a little noisy) and the hotel employees were very helpful. We had dinner on the patio that evening and it was... more

I was brought to this restaurant by a local guide from France. She has always loved it and asked me if I trusted her with our lunch reservation.I did indeed and it was a wonderful experience! We had many small plates of french food to die for! We ate in the gardens and we were treated with the most care! I... more

The disappointment! Melon and ham for a starter? Shrimp cocktail? limp, blanched asparagus, tired old vegatables 'shaped', no sauces that didn't involve hollandaise. It really is the worst kind of old-school cooking, and not even done well. I was reminded of those cookery cards from the 70's that Robert Carrier managed to get into every home, with garish photos of... more

Having stayed here enticed by its reputation, and romantic location I too was really disappointed with La Colombe d'Or! My husband and I stayed for 10 days in Sept 2002 and really encountered rude, unhelpful service for the duration of our stay. I see things have changed little. That being said, it was no different to the service we received... more

I had lived In St Paul as an au pair many years ago and used to look through the heavy wooden door into the garden restaurant and imagine what it might be like to stay there. Well it took a while to find out but I booked for 3 days for my husband's birthday and flew our teenage children in... more
