Our first stay in Nice was at the Mercure located on the Promenade. We had a room with a view to the side street and not facing the beach. This did not detract from the hotel at all. Fantastic location right next to the opera house, so an ideal base for exploring Nice. Overall the hotel was very clean and the service was good. Our room had the bed on a mezzanine level which was fine, but a little cramped (and warm!) even with the A/C on full, and could prove difficult for those with any mobility problems... More

Luckily we were on the ground floor so we only had the short flight of stairs to climb, and they were easy even with heavy bags. Stayed 2 nights in lovely Nice. The hotel was located approx 15mins walk from the train station, pretty much straight down the main road. It is situated right across the street form the beach. The beachfront is across from the hotel so in about a minute, you are at the Promenade des Anglais and the pebbled beach (bring aquasox with you).
