This is a top class hotel: the rooms are extremely comfortable, the bathrooms spacious and well equipped, the staff extremely polite and helpful, common space is plentiful, location wonderful. Yet it is so classical in its decor and presentation that it lacks soul and I have to say I found it boring.

We stayed 5 nights at the Martinez in April/May and were delighted with the refurbished room, upgraded & facing the sea. Lovely decor & very comfortable & new bathroom fittings are excellent. Quite expensive during the Cannes film festival and noisy at night. There is always music and people having fun across the streets. Too many people outside the entrance to see their favorite stars arriving. But when the festival ends . The hotel is nice and quiet. Rooms are nice but a bit small . This is really the best hotel in Cannes. Rooms are great, we had a sea view, and my, the view was marvellous. Excelent service and a wonderful breakfast. We didnt eat in the evening at the hotel, just used the bar, which again was very very pleasant. We will be returning, again, and again!

Beware the Hotel Martinez website: shows "Prestige" rooms all over the site, but when you book others (such as an Executive) as we did, it is decrepid and small (depressing blue, old furniture, dirty stained carpets, chipped wardrobes, curtains falling to bits).
