Wonderful character hotel with very friendly staff. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite because of a leak in the room above, which we were unaware of. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The hotel is very old with a lot of history and this is reflected in the rooms decor and the lovely art and antiques.

We were disappointed with our "superior" room, but this is a very old building and we should probably make allowances. The large bathroom was fine, but the room itself had a depressing air about it. We looked at a couple of others which were undoubtedly better, but one was vastly more expensive and the other overlooked the street and some... More

My husband and I stayed in a Classic Double room overnight at this hotel. The hotel has a lovely courtyard entrance and an inviting bar area. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The proximity to the Palais des Papes and the Pont St Benezet is a five minute walk and it is lovely to wander the winding pretty streets... More

This was our second stay here so we knew what to expect and weren’t disappointed. Our room was spacious and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The courtyard area is very pretty to have meals or drinks although we chose to eat elsewhere. Would recommend and return. The hotel is situated at the town walls near the... More

When we walked into this lovely hotel I smelled smoke at the reception area and requested a non-smoking room. I was told that the entire hotel is non-smoking, that ashtrays are provided in the rooms just in case, but that the "hotel policy" is definitely non-smoking. When we entered our room, prominent on the table was not only an ashtray... More

We stayed for 3 fabulous nights at the Hotel d'Europe in Avignon; I wish it was for longer! This was an amazing hotel. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. The location is just within the city walls within walking distance of the Palais des Papes and Pont d'Avignon, as well as being perfectly placed for heading out of the city on... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and loved it. Really surprised at the comments below about the place being "faded". Our room was in very good condition, with a lovely bathroom. And the courtyard terrace is quaint with lots of quirky little touches. Ok, the Roman busts painted bright orange which appear all over the hotel might not be everyone's... More

This hotel is in an old charming house. Here you will find good old classic chic and elegance. The staff is super welcoming and friendly. Loved the valet parking service. The hotel has THE perfect location for visiting Avignon and Avignon festival. Avignon is quite noisy and crowded under the festival. The hotel has a lovely charming terrace where you... More

Lonely Planet sums it up well when they say " the glamour has faded - rooms need better lighting and fabrics but its a grand address". OK so Napolean and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis have stayed there but to be honest I would be surprised if they would now. We were driving and booked for 4 nights we stayed 1 and... More

Doesn't get better than this! Highly recommend a stay here. Rooms were amazing. Staff was always polite, friendly and helpful. Location doesn't get better. Delicious breakfast in the courtyard under a tree planted in the mid 1700's!
