This is a lovely and unusual place to stay. We really enjoyed staying on the boat just outside Avignon and the owners could not have been more helpful. The place is so atmospheric with a pool on the deck a lovely parrot called Victor and two historic bedrooms complete with original wood panelling. The breakfast was the best we had... More

We loved staying on the boat! It was quaint, peaceful and relaxing. The food was outstanding. Breakfast was served on the deck with the morning sun shining down. I could never finish all the beautiful items served to me and always left satisfied. This is not a flashy upscale place; it's a wonderful sweet get away to drink a bottle... More

The Peniche, built in 1928, provided an atmospheric and traditional setting for a tranquil stay. The air conditioning in main room coped well with a very hot spell of weather. A wheelhouse kitchen was a novel place to prepare the occasional evening meal and the breakfast served on deck each morning lived up to the reviews of previous guests. Spacious... More

A belated review and thanks to Jean-Marie for our memorable 4-day stay in July. This unique B&B was an unexpected highlight of our month long holiday in France. Although we stayed in places that were more flash, this place will long be a vivid memory. Jean Marie's generous yet low key hospitality helped create a relaxed fun ambience. His incredible... More

My partner booked one night here as a birthday treat for me. The location, accomodation, the homemade breakfast made by Jean-Marie was absolutely fantastic. It was all so unbelievably different and Jean -Marie is a superb host, The boat was spotlessly clean and very characteristic and well kept. Will recommend to others we know would be interested in something different.... More

I spent two nights on the peniche winding down before a walking holiday, and really enjoyed them. Jean Mary is a good host, and an excellent breakfast cook. I was able to get some outstanding work finished, using the wifi. There is a covered terrace on the deck with table and chairs, and a small pool. And then walked the 20-25... More

Stayed 3 nights and had a fantastic experience - very very highly recommended. Eating an excellent breakfast on the deck in the morning is a fabulous experience which should not be missed. Once on board you really do feel a change in the pace of life and relaxed. The host Jean-Marie couldn't have been more accomodating. However there are a... More

It's really hard to find the right description of staying on a barge....It had everything we needed, had a great view...your on the Rhone-how bad can that be?! Our breakfasts were served outside on the deck and were very good. Loved just getting up, climbing up our steps and watching the quiet river slowly go by. Hardly any traffic when... More

For a change of pace, we stayed 3 nights on a barge converted into a two room B&B on the Rhone across from the old city of Avignon. Tucked away on the island, about a 7 minute drive to town, this was a wonderful experience. Owner Mr. Jean Mary was a greaat host. We ate our breakfast alfresco overlooking the... More
