Prices in Aix are high but I wish we had of spent a little more. Although the location of this hotel is excellent, the rooms are tiny, dark, drab and old - not in a charming way, just old. The staff at the desk was very helpful, everything was clean and we did receive a quiet room, as requested -... more

You have to give this hotel points for it's location which makes it convenient to everything. Whilst it overlooks a busy piazza the double glazing means that noise isn't a problem. We booked two rooms and both were massive compared to other European rooms that we have stayed in. The rooms and common areas however are tired and shabby looking.... more

We booked this hotel for a three night stay in June because of its position, and that was marvellous. On showing the room we tried to put air conditioning on, but no go .It was hot, and after many efforts to communicate, not doing very well, finally found it had not been turned on, as the hot season had not arrived.... more

Stayed here for a couple nights, and the location couldn't have been better in terms of being in the central shopping and restaurant district and being near to the old city. However, it can be a little noisy at night due to this fact. Washroom could use an upgrade, security seems like it could be better since hotel keys are... more

Excellent location right in the busy & noisy streets where you find all the bars and restaurants. Old hotel, old rooms, awful bed, smallest bath I ever saw, only ok to wash your feet! overall impression was quite depressing. Breakfast was not available due to breakfast room turned into meeting room! Coming back late from restaurant and a drink we... more

Could have been a great hotel if the owners would spend a bit of money on what matters, the beds were comfortable, the rooms were large and our bathroom was also a good size, there was an odd smell in the room and bathroom and the staff did not really want to know and were rude, the breakfast was an... more

Location of the hotel is perfect- its almost on the main street, and for the money its ideal. Breakfast was a let down though- they carge an extra 8 euros, but there's no buffet and no breakfast menu.... you just tell them what you want and they bring it (i politely declined at that point)! The hotel is situated in... more

The Hotel de France is an inexpensive hotel situated only a block off the famous tree-lined Cours Mirabeau on a very narrow street (only one car managed to get past me when I stopped briefly to unload) beside one of Aix's pretty fountains and a lively cafe. The rooms were clean, comfortable, plain, and very large for France. The front... more

I don't think you can find a better hotel for the money. I paid the posted rate of 83 euros. This is an older hotel with unusually large rooms for Europe. The rooms come with either a tub and bidet or a shower. Our room had a walk-in closet and the bath was spacious and very clean. I would highly... more
