I am asking my self "are all the good reviews about the same hotel we stayed at?". Because this is not our impression at all! First of all, the pictures are lying! The location was far from the city center, but that is not a problem for us, and this we also knew. The problem was the dirty and small... more

We are at one with previous commentaries. Four comfortable nights. Eventually had to ask for breakfast quantities to be restricted such was the temptation to try everything! It was so easy to nip into Dartmouth, Totnes, Salcombe etc. The new larger Upper ferry to Kingswear and Torbay makes visits there very easy too, especially to NT properties. more

I was initially a bit shocked to arrive at the hotel by taxi, it appearing to be back to front. I had that awful trepIdation, following a journey, of wondering where I was going, and had I made a mistake ? The Hotel staff were very hospitable and professional, and the room, although small, was adequate for our five night... more

The room on the 2nd floor, booked as a twin, contained a small double and a single bed which took over most of the space. There was also insufficient hanging space . The bathroom was OK, if tatty. The breakfast area was badly set out and very crowded, especially when 3 coach parties were all trying to eat at once.... more

A little bit out of the way. This was not a problem as we had a car. Without a car I would recommend a hotel closer to the town centre. The immediate surrounding area seems a little run down - a lot of wall graffiti on a nearby apartment block. The hotel itself is fine with a large security gated... more

Stayed at the Hotel for 5 nights. Room was clean , comfortable but on the small side. Self Service Breakfast OK but serving area small and liable to get congested. Evening meals of a poor standard. Same menu every evening. Kitchens ran out of eggs on one occasion so no omellettes available. Nice swimming pool but noise of motorway could... more

Stayed just two nights over the long weekend. I was really impressed with the very pleasant nature of the front desk staff. Often confronted with arrogant french staff in other hotel stays, this was a delight, they smiled as they suffered our poor attempts at requests in more than basic French. Rooms very clean and extremely comfortable. Missed tea and... more

We stayed there for a week in September 2005. The hotel staff were polite, helpful and friendly. The room was excellent and quite adequate for the stay. After all you don't want to stay in your bedroom all the time. It was nice to sit around the pool with a cool drink and the cuisine was well presented and reasonably... more

I stayed here only one night, in on of the apartement style rooms on the first floor. My room was clean though a heard complaints from fellow travelers. The bathroom was extremely strange; there was one bathroom in the room with the sink and shower...but no toilet, then in the on the other side of the roomroom there another bathroom... more

We had five nights at the Mascotte in early September. The desk staff and the manager were extremely helpful in making our stay pleasant. The buffet breakfast was good and the evening dinner menus were varied and of high (French) standard. The hotel is on the outskirts of the town but the centre is an easy 25 minute walk away... more
