This hotel is perfectly located for visiting Aix, an easy stroll to the main street (Cours Mirabeau) and hundreds of shops, markets and other activities. The bedrooms are inconsistent - some large, some small, some with magnificent pieces of heavy old furniture, none with great mod cons, but an atmosphere of days (long) gone by. I was lucky and had... My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Cardinal for two nights in September 2014, and would in a heartbeat return. It's a lovely little place -- charming and unmistakably 'south of France' in character -- and absolutely incredible value for the $. There were no suites available on the nights we were there, and so we wound up in... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in a huge room overlooking the courtyard (round the corner from the reception). The room was perfect- huge bed, sofa, chairs, separate kitchenette in another room and a little walk in robe and the location of the hotel is perfect so very central yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle so as... I stayed five nights at this 2-star hotel. I would say it should be 3-star. It is in an area of mansions, and so it gives a taste of those buildings. It is a charming property. My room was one of six very large rooms. I had two windows that opened to a balcony. The street view was exactly what... More

In the case you would think to book in this hotel whose interent site looks so nice and "provence-style", think twice obut it. Do you know that there are rooms with NO windows in this hotel (priced at 78 euros). You read it! NO Windows. And of course absolutely no mention of that at the moment of booking (and to... More

Having been recommended to this hotel quite a few years ago by an Aix local we have returned again and again. The property is very French with all that implies. It is excellently situated right next to the Musee Granet and within walking distance of anywhere you might want to go in Aix. Walking is key as a car is... More

Members of our group were accused of leaving dog feces, wrapped in tissue, behind the curtains. Let me say, none of us, in any of our three rooms, had a dog. Our group members were horrified to say the least. They then mentioned that the room did not look like it had been vacuumed upon our arrival (at midnight). The... More

The location of the hotel is excellent (ten minutes walking from the train station), in the centar of the old city. I choose the hotel by recommendatons from Trip advisor. But I was disappointed. I stayed in a single room with privat bath but not inside the room. I know that fact when I booked, but I didn't know that... More

I hate to give a bad or even an average review, but I wasn't impressed with this hotel. The location is perfect, the price is right, but I felt that the place was frayed around the edges. The coverlet was stained, and the bathroom seemed not quite spotless. But, if you're going for location, I suppose it's acceptable.
