The Grand Hotel Negre Coste is located on the main thoroughfare at Aix. It is a wonderful location. The hotel is old and needs a 'touch of paint' here and there and the lift is an experience on its own. However we loved the character and charm of the whole building. The staircase is quite grand and I could imagine... More

We recently stayed at hotel intending to stay 4 nights but ended up staying 9. We found the location fantastic, right in the centre Cours Mirabeau and all the action- restaurants, markets and shops. Easy access to transport and the Tourist Information Centre which enabled us to make Aix our base for exploring the region. The hotel is old and... More

As others state, location is what saves this hotel. It's right in the middle of the historic Mirabeau strip. Beyond that, it's tough to find a lot of good things to say. Very old building with the typical high ceilings. Rooms are very tired. The mattress nearly crippled me. Shower did have good water pressure and plenty of hot water... More

This hotel is in a great location, but needs a needs a cash injection, the hotel was very tired although the room was fine and the bathroom wasclean with a good shower. The best things about this hotel was the location, the secure parking, although a bit tight, and the staff, who were very friendly and helpful.

Good location but very shabby and don't waste your money on the 'better' rooms if you stay there. Just a scruffy and worn out as the cheaper. Towels seem to be made out of corrugated paper, no bathrooms no frills.

We wanted to be in the city centre and this hotel fit the bill. It is located on Cours Mirabeau where all the restaurants and shops are located. Great location and easy to get to .Parking is included onsite, which is great. The rooms were basic, but clean. No frills. Wifi never did work for us. Breakfast was included but... More

The staff here was very accommodating. We came in (literally) from the rain, as the accommodation we had arranged was uninhabitable (see my review on AirBNB in Aix). We walked into the lobby with no reservation, and were able to secure a room for a few days at a reasonable price. They could have tried to take advantage of us,... More

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in July, and found it to be a very nice place in a stellar location. This hotel is on the street Cours Mirabeau, where many restaurants and stores are situated. It is within walking distance of the tourism office and the bus station, which is convenient. Getting around from the hotel to... More

This hotel is situated on the Cours Mirabeau so very hard to beat on location, with a very handy car park at back of hotel. On the downside, very poor soundproofing, rudimentary breakfast. They have started to modernise, but it is an unlucky mix of (very nice) old and new. Bathroom very basic. Would not recommend, am afraid...

A large room at the grand hotel was a pleasant base with a great locality. All new save the ancient chest vase and armoire! Character in spades. Large grand staircase. The Cours Mirabeau is very central. Night markets, atmosphere and fountains with tremendous history. Weather in july very warm. French cafes and restaurants in abundance. Good air con and quiet...
