We found the hotel to be a pleasant suprise and good value for La Rochelle. It is about a 10 minute walk from the port area though that was not an issue for us. We certainly got lucky with the room as we got a corner one which was massive, clean and well furnished, though maybe a little dated. Reception... more

Bedrooms are spacious and quiet with effective and quiet air conditioning. Our bathroom (in the extension) was overdue for updating. Prices are reasonable and the location is off-centre but convenient. Although the main building is a fine old convent building, the hotel lacks atmosphere; the public areas and the garden felt a little forlorn during our 2 night stay. Whilst... more

Stayed for 3 nights in July in this old but re-furbished building which was great to use a base for the town. The bus from the airport (1.20 Euros!) stops at Place du Verdun which is 3 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel has huge, light rooms with high ceilings and big windows which are furnished with period furniture.... more

We have just had five nights at the hotel, with a party of 28 who seemed to take it over. We had a twin room on the ground floor with bathroom which I believe was not as spacious as those upstairs but it was perfectly adequate and spotlessly clean. The bed linen was changed each evening and although the windows... more

I really enjoyed my stay here at the BW France Angleterre & Champlain. The hotel was clean and the elegant bed was comfortable. Also had good spacious en-suite marble bathroom with hairdryer. I had breakfast (brioche et cafe) at nearby french bistro. Being France all rooms have ash trays but a quick spray of the air freshener quickly resolved this... more

We stayed at this hotel for four nights. It is just a few minutes walk from the airport bus stop at Place Verdun. However the location lacks atmosphere and is on the edge of the main shopping area and about a ten-minute walk from the more scenic and lively old harbour area. At 60 euro a night, our double room... more

We found this hotel from our car's sat nav (!) and liked the look of it so decided to stay for the night. Its a beautiful old building and we were lucky to have a room in the old part (Le Champlain) with air conditioning, nice view, panelled walls and antique furniture. The staff were helpful and very friendly their... more

Just of the main squre, this is a very attractively priced hotel. With a beautiful foyer and bar, it also had the added bonus of breakfast in the garden restaurant. We didn't eat in the hotel so couldn't comment on the food, but the room was clean, smallish, but adequate for what we payed. Best to converse in French as... more
