I stayed here for several nights while visiting the area. The historic hotel is well-situated in the medieval city, and is close to the Poma tramway to the train station. My room was very typical in European fashion and very clean. It was a very good value to stay at a hotel of this historic nature and location. This was... more

We found this hotel by accident travelling home via Dunkirk. We were a walk in customer and needed two double rooms as we were with friends. They did their best to accomodate us and we spoke in our limited french. The rooms were clean, the beds new and comfortable and the decor traditionally French. I would not have expected less... more

I'd stayed here before about 20 years ago, but the hotel and service seem to have declined a lot. Finding the hotel is easy enough, but getting into the garage (extra charge) is a bit tricky. The check-in was none to friendy, and the older man at the desk hadno idea what "internet" was. A few minutes later, a much... more

We arrived at the Hotel de la Banniere at 7pm as previously advised and showed the receptionist our e-mail confirmation sent by the hotel for a double room with shower for Euro63. The receptionist looked at our printed out confirmation. He advised that parking would be an additional Euro7 and handed us the room key. We were not asked for... more

We have stayed at La Banniere many times over the years. If you travel through France then this hotel is an absolute must, it's classic. As mentioned in another review only France has hotels like this. I'll add, that they are unfortuneatly a dying breed. E150.00 will buy you DBB, plus wine (2 bottles), and car parking, obviously for 2... more

We wanted a simple hotel with a restaurant on our way back from the south coast to Calais. We were disappointed as the hotel had lost our booking, said that did not have a double but did and did not tell us that the restaurant was closed (Wednesday). We were tired and ended up walking around the old town trying... more

We stayed here en route to Burgundy, having booked on the strength of reviews here and in the Guide Michelin. This is a classic old style French family run hotel. Mme Lefevre, la patronne, is very welcoming and speaks English. We had room 3, on the first floor above reception with two windows overlooking the road which is quite busy... more

We chose the Hotel La Bannière in Laon as an intermediate travel step from Paris. It is in the "high village" which is the medieval town on the top of the hill overlooking Laon. The hotel was built in 1685 (they said) and so it lacks a lift but otherwise is excellent. The rooms vary in size but are really... more

Very lovely, quaint, quirky, but oh so memorable and charming. I loved this hotel. Right near the heart of the old upper town, near the old cathedral. Staff very nice and helpful, though only the owner seems to be proficient in English. But no matter. Room was nice and clean and good enough. Restaurant was a great find. Best meal... more

Quaint 17th century building. Very old fashioned hotel (they want you to hand in your passport in exchange for the front door key!) Hotel is clean, building is interesting. Breakfast is very meagre and definitely not worth 8 euros. Laon is not really worth staying in for more than one night as there is not all that much to do... more
