The other reviews are pretty much spot on both positive and negative. Hotel is situated in the old fortified area of a cathedral city with amazing tourist potential yet is probably mainly used by travellers passing to the channel ports, what a waste and definitely on our list to return for a longer visit. Hotel is a little run down... More

This is an very French hotel with bags of old style built into what was an ancient monastery. The location is brilliant, 1 minute from the cathedral on top of the ancient walled hill town of Laon. Its run by a really helpful English speaking chap who tries really hard to give good service and its at a good price.... More

Our first night's stopover on our way driving down through France to Corsica. Stopping in Laon is good for us. Having driven from Southampton to Dover, we don't want to spend too long on the road in France on the same day. This hotel is in a lovely old building near the town centre. True, it's a bit shabby, but... More

I absolutely endorse the views of most who preceded us as overnight guests travelling between the ferry/tunnel and the Côte d'Azur/Italy. Mattieu is a charming host, the old town a seedy delight and the Cathedral a gem. When we arrived we were told that the heating in the hotel had failed so we would occupy a refurbished apartment in a... More

Laon is a charming old town. We stayed one night at this hotel. There are pros and cons to this hotel. I rate it as a 2 star hotel. Good points: it's right in the middle of town, parking is close by, dog friendly, good continental breakfast. Very helpful and friendly young man who was the owner. Bad points: rather dark... More

Luckily we stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms on the top floor-although this had a few issues-wobbly shower head, non existent wifi, and the usual plumbing problems(sink took ages to drain). However hats off to the owner who was very helpful and friendly-Apart from a cleaner I think he was running the hotel on his own. Be warned we... More

No heat until last minute. Wifi spotty to non-existent. Plumbing issues. Reception missing in action. Stressful. Front door locked at 2 in afternoon when I arrived. 2 hour wait to get in. Advise you stay anywhere but here.

This hotel had all you want in an overnight stop - comfortable bed, good bathroom and a very good breakfast. So it was easy to overlook the less good points - the carpet on the stairs was tatty (that on the walls was much better) and paint was flaking on the bathroom ceiling. The general decor, however, was charming. The... More

Family of four and a couple stayed here one night. Very friendly owner, Mathieu. Family room very spacious and bathroom clean. Paint flaking off ceiling in bathroom. carpet on stairs needs attention in places. Great breakfast. Right by the main square. Would definitely stay again. HH

A bit basic, but clean, comfy and very friendly, the perfect stopover. Good breakfast too - continental, of course. Mathieu is a very helpful host, answering all our questions and vacating his parking spot so we could leave our old(ish) MG safely in the nearby courtyard. Good value for money.
