My family (2 adults, 3 kids under 12) stayed for one night on our way to the Vendee. Saumur is a pleasant Loire town with several excellent local wine producers. The hotel is 5/10 minutes drive out of town on a hill top. It has excellent views of the Loire valley. Our kids enjoyed the small swimming pool and had... more

I have stayed at this hotel a few times now - previously it was called the Clos des Benedictins and the previous management and staff were excellent. It is slightly out of Saumur in the St Hilaire suburb up at the top of the hill opposite the Cadre Noir. The room facilities are ok with comfortable beds (although there are... more

Even arriving late, we were allowed in one of the pools - didn't realize they had cabana style accomodations as well! But the hotel is quite nice, the dining is truly excellent - not just in taste but in presentation AND imagination. The price was perfect and we ate in the restaurant more than we'd planned - what a pleasure.... more

We stayed in one of the apartments that is part of this small hotel complex. The property has a children's play area and 2 swimming pools. The accommodation was very clean and well equipped. The beds were comfortable. We did not use the restaurant, preferring to drive into Saumur to eat in a variety of restaurants, but the menu looked... more

On first impression we thought this a lovely hotel, and happily our experience during our one night stay was satisfactory. The lobby area has some comfy couches where one can have a pre-dinner drink and the restaurant looks very nice (we ate in the less formal bistro, of which more below) Reception staff were friendly and showed us to our... more

This hotel clearly caters for families. The welcome is friendly, the room we had adequate and the situation very pleasant. The food in the restaurant is not great - better to eat in town or at the hotel's second eating area - called the Brasserie. The gardens could do with more attention and the swimming pool is no good if... more

We stayed in Saumur just recently for 2 nights as a get away from our time in Paris, hotel was great with staff very accomodating and the rooms of a good standard. We hired bicycles and with the hotels great location we able to easily visit the nearby wineries. Be sure to visit the city centre for some great food.... more

We stayed at this hotel for one night last September during a tour of the Loire Valley and Normandy. Unfortunately it poured with rain for our entire stay and the view of the chateau on the opposite side of the valley was almost totally obscured by low cloud. Our room was extremely clean and comfortable and the bathroom was wonderful,... more

This hotel has a Very Nice location on a hill above the charming town of Saumur. The grounds are spacious and the view spectacular. The restaurant is of the gourmand variety. 2.5 hours for dinner and Very Expensive, but excellent. The room was a disappointment, but the bathroom was great. more
