We were here for 3 nights in a very large dormer room. The best was having a view of the chateau from the room, especially at night when it was bathed in light. Within minutes you can walk to the chateau and tour it or walk to the colorful town and some great restaurants. The hotel itself has been restored... More

We stayed here while touring France for 12 days. Our room was a large, clean attic room with timbered ceiling, and antique furniture. The 2 dormer windows graced us with a beautiful view of the castle or chateau all lighted up at night. We also had a fan in the room if needed. The commode was separate from the bathroom.... More

This is a wonderful hotel, with the castle behind it and the Loire River in front. It is a 5 minute walk to town with shopping and restaurants..Rooms vary greatly in size and degree of renovation. We had a river facing room that had original walls and was beautiful. There is no air conditioning but there is a fan and... More

What a great location. The Hotel is in a historic 18th century building at the foot of the Chateau of Saumur and overlooks the Loire and is a few minutes walk from the centre of Saumur where there ware some good restaurants. The staff were so welcoming and helpful. Room was good and overlooked the hotel's picturesque and quiet courtyard... More

We stayed at this hotel for two nights while doing a cycling tour through the Loire Valley. It was a joy to arrive after a 40 km ride to such pleasant surroundings. The rear garden is a quiet space to relax. Staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. We dined at the partner restaurant one evening - this was an... More

Located in an 18th century townhouse, this hotel really does invoke the charm of a bygone era - yet with all mod cons! Pleasant good sized bedrooms - but ensure that you select a room at the rear overlooking the sheltered patio courtyard garden as those at the front overlook the road and can be noisy. The courtyard is a... More

A really nice hotel with a few foibles to bear in mind. No tea & coffee making facilities, our shower was over the bath but the head was held so that the water went horizontal to the far wall unless you reduced the flow dramatically. No hotel restaurant but the partner restaurant in the garden was closed on both Sunday... More

We visit this hotel most years on our way back up to the ferry from Southern France. It is always our last 'treat'of the holiday. The hotel is brilliantly situated between the Loire River and Saumur's Chateau and is a delightful place to stay. By the side of its small car park is a delightful restaurant 'Les Menestrels' which I... More

The welcome and introduction to the hotel we received was one of the friendliest ever. It was almost like being welcomed into a family home. The building itself was ideally located for exploring the treasures of Saumur and you could feel the history of the hotel. In some of the public rooms it was like stepping back in time and... More

We only stayed one night but we will definitely go back. The hotel was very welcoming and very central. It does not have its own restaurant but there is an excellent restaurant at the "bottom of the garden".
