I have stayed at this hotel for the last 10 years but wish it had upgraded a bit over that time. It changed hands about 3 years ago and we are given the same room each year which suits us because we have bad knees for climbing the stairs. BUT each year they have told us they were going to... More

Two nights in Anger and two nights in Hotel du Mail. Beautiful building and very centrally located, only a 2 minute walk from the main square. Room was quite small and at the top of the building and even in November is was quite warm, no A/C, so cannot imagine what's it like in summer. However I would stay in... More

Angers is a wonderful city, full of history, but very much lacking in charming hotels of character. Hotel du Mail is an exception. There are many things that it is not. It is not plush, while updated, it is not on par high-priced chain hotels and it does not offer 24 hour room service. What it does offer is a... More

We stopped here one night on our drive through France. The fact that it had parking was an influence. We had an attic room and there is no lift. Consequently the bathroom was somewhat compromised for space. Our bed was not particularly comfortable but as we have a Tempur mattress at home, this is difficult to replicate! Dinner recommendation was... More

Fabulous little find. Very well priced and appointed. Given that I was travelling with my rather tall husband, we asked for a bigger room. What we were given suited our needs. Our visit to Angers was a combination of business and pleasure. While the rooms aren't super luxurious, they were better than I expected based on the price. The location... More

If you want a centrally-located hotel with parking we would recommend this hotel. Everything about it is acceptable but not memorable and it is reasonably priced. There are a number of restaurants nearby (the hotel does not have its own) and breakfast is adequate but a bit pricey. Staff are efficient if not overly friendly. I have stayed here several... More

I walked over from the gare (about 10-15 minutes) to check this place out (I don't trust Lonely Planet), and was really pleased. The hotel is an old mansion, with a courtyard and large old style lobby, located on very quiet side streets. It is within easy walking distance of everything. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They showed... More

Public areas have been renovated, but rest of hotel is very shabby and needs work. Our twin room had no bedspreads. Linens were covered with mismatched (one solid brown, one a yellow plaid) badly worn blankets. Blow-dryer broken in bathroom. I was assured it would be replaced, and it never was. Absolutely no warmth or charm to this property. Breakfast... More

I stayed there with my daughter and we had a lovely room. The hotel is very conviniently located in the historic part of Angers but we were disapointed by the breakfast ( very plain ) and the unfriendliness of the hosts. It is a pity really for the price was more than correct, given the area and the spaciousness of... More

This was a nice hotel compared to others we had stayed at for comparable prices. We had a double room with a single connecting adjoining room so it was quite spacious. The courtyard parking was not a problem as the reception staff moved the cars around as necessary for people to get in and out. We would have preferred not... More
