If you value old world character, friendly attentive service and really nice food - then don't hesitate to book the Playden Oasts Inn. We stayed in one of the roundel rooms with a wonderful circular bed matching the shape of the room. Very close to the centre of historic Rye - and within an area full of fascination including Rye... We really enjoyed another lunch at this Inn, each time meeting with friends and being made very welcome, and allowing us to take our small dog in with us. The staff were excellent and made us feel very comfortable. We look forward to the next time.

Having a free Saturday we decided to see if we could just ring up and book a night away in East Sussex somewhere. What a lovely find this place turned out to be. Quirky, and very homely, the owners and staff go out of their way to make sure you are happy. We ate in the cosy restaurant in the evening... More

Just a short drive from Rye, this hotel was a great little place from which to explore the region. Comfortable beds in a quiet room (- we stayed in the adjoining annexe) - sumptuous breakfasts - and such kind and courteous service. It was a luxury to dine in the restaurant in the evening, with locally sourced, well cooked food... More

Best fillet steak ever ,best table in the restaurant! quirky only best describes this "warm and un pretentious" hotel. Great evening and as we hadn't booked we were well looked after. But most importantly a very big thank you for scouring the grounds and finding my wallet!! what a relief x

My fiancé and I decided to have a last minute stay somewhere on our journey home to the coast. We weren't able to get a room in Rye so chanced upon this beautiful Oast House, perched on Playden hill, high above Rye and overlooking the expansive Romney Marsh. Downstairs is an old fashioned bar and restaurant, well equipped with a... More

We booked at short notice and had a very cordial conversation when speaking to the hotel. Upon arrival we were not disappointed as the hotel comprises of most attractive converted oast houses in a very pleasant location close to Rye. We decided to have our evening meal there and that turned out to be a very good decision as we... More

We stayed for one night on a business trip. We were given a lovely warm welcome and the staff were very friendly. The room was average and looked a bit tired. The shower and toilet were sufficiently clean but not spotless. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet, so we slept well. The only reason we awoke in the... More

We have just returned from a lovely weekend stay at The Playden, it was a surprise weekend from my partner and I wasn't disappointed. The Playden has character and charm, it is reflective of 3 star when it comes to the rooms but its clean and tidy, and was a comfortable stay. The staff are fantastic, so friendly, and welcoming,...
