A warm and friendly welcome from the reception staff. The hotel is well situated in the middle of town. On a main road but quiet at night. Rooms have been modernized. Very pleasant. good bathrooms. I was very disappointed with the food. Dinner was quite pricey and not very good. Odd combinations - prawns and orange sauce?? Breakfast was a... More

Stayed here with a tour group while visiting Normandy beaches around the anniversary of D-Day. The hotel is located in the center of Lisieux, a relatively small town, which was clean and safe to walk around. There are a couple of decent restaurants on the main square with outside seating. The staff was really good about accomodating our large group,... More

This is a charming hotel with friendly, polite and helpful staff who all appear to have a good understanding of English. We were on the top floor (5) having a spacious corner room which had a wonderful elevated view of Lisieux. Our room was very clean and comfortable with a fresh modern décor. The location is very central with restaurants/bars... More

The hotel is a bit dated, but the staff made more than up for it. They were awesome, and the food is phenomenal! I would stay here again. The hotel is centrally located, and there are many shops surrounding it. I didn't get a chance to go out, but there was plenty to do within walking distance.

Just spent the weekend at this lovely hotel with a group I arranged. I had stayed there a few years ago and was happy to return though previously we had found it a little basic. However, after a refurb the facilities are some of the best I have found in a reasonably priced hotel anywhere in France. The rooms are... More

We were looking for a hotel which was near French gardens. We decided on Lisieux and picked the Grand Hotel de l'Esperance. We were extremely pleased to find it was very well situated for visiting some beautiful gardens. It is also within walking distance of the Basilica, Cathedral and shops. We booked for 2 nights and liked it so much... More

We stayed two nights at this hotel which is easy to find. There is private parking available in the garage and the main attractions - Basilica, Carmel, Cathedral and Les Buissonnets - are all within walking distance. The reception/lounge/bar and restaurant are all spacious as was our room which was extremely clean although a little cold. The staff were friendly... More

We decided to spend one night at the Grand Hotel de l'Espeance on the occassion of the festivities for St.Therese de Lisieux which started on 28th October,2013. The Hotel is a five minute taxi ride from the train station which costs around 8 Euros and is a good ten minute walk. If you are driving you can park your car... More

Stayed here on the way to Le Havre, and very pleased to find it is a clean, well-equipped hotel. With 3 children, we had an apartment, which was perfect with two large separate bedrooms, each with ensuite bathroom. Great location near restaurants and shops and very friendly, helpful staff.

We loved this hotel: Friendly and helpful staff, lovely interior, clean room. We stayed on the 3rd floor overlooking the street. Got to our room and opened the wonderful old fashioned windows overlooking the village -- GREAT view of the Basilica of St Therese up on the hill! Special to hear the church bells from our room.
