When we visit Cherbourg we always stay at the Renaissance. It's a small hotel (12 rooms?) but very clean, comfortable and conveniently located. Olivier, the patron, makes you very welcome (in French or in English). The hotel is part of the Contact group which offers a free stay (up to a value) every 12th night that one stays in a... More

We'd stayed in this hotel before, in 2006' and chose it again because of its convenient location. The small bedroom was clean and bright, and had a good view of the harbour. The electric external shutters meant that we weren't woken up by the morning sunshine. We couldn't park very close to the hotel this time - perhaps because it... More

We stayed with children having arrived from the UK. The family room is poorly equipped for families, the curtains are see-through, there are no facilities. We have stayed at the Hotel Renaissance on a number of occasions, most recently in mid June 2006 and have always found it a really pleasant experience. The hotel is very conveniently situated near both the sea front and the town, staff are always friendly although we've rarely found anyone who speaks English. The rooms are all named after flowers...
