I stayed in the Hotel Crocus Caen Memorial which I think is this one. This score would have been higher but when I arrived, admittedly later than expected just after 9, I checked in, put my bag in my room, brought in my laptop and came straight back down to eat in the restaurant - which did look nice. However... More

OK - I wanted to break up a long journey across France - and I acknowledge that according to Booking.Com that I had booked the cheapest Hotel in Caen - but at almost £80 for two rooms (think UK Travel Lodge prices) and then a very expensive and poor evening meal and breakfast (which is hardly possible in France) then... We arrived to a nice hotel and a nice reception and restaurant area. However as mentioned on other reviews, once behind this facard things go down hill quickly. Dim and tired corridors leading to below par rooms that have seen much better days. Loose electic sockets, plastic bathroom and a unpleasant odor does nothing to greet a weary traveller.

The pricing at this 'hotel' does not reflect its run-down state. There is adequate parking and the reception and dining areas are both acceptable, but when you go through the corridors to the rooms, it is dark, dank, dirty and smelly. The rooms are more basic than an army barrack room, dirty with a barely adequate shower and toilet. The... More

We found this hotel to be a good location for us and for the various sightseeing trips we had planned. The rooms are adequate, nothing more or less, unfortunately they have an aroma of cigarette smoke and poor lighting. The en suite looked like an afterthought but proved adquate although lighting in toilet was awful too. Like a previous viewer... More

The hotel was in a good location for visiting Caen and Bayeux. The rooms were clean and the bed comfortable, the bathroom was very small and dark but the shower was powerful. We ate in the restaurant and found the food well cooked and tasty. this was our first hotel of a three week tour of France and paid a... More

I went to this hotel on a school trip with friends and teachers. As we arrived on the coach we all thought it looked ok but we were terribly wrong. As we went through the main entrance the staff were kind and greeted us and handed us our keys which, by the way, were heavy lumps of metal with a... More

Our expectations for the Hotel Crocus were fairly minimal. We were off the ferry at Dieppe, knew we would be quite tired, and just wanted somewhere cheap to get a good night's sleep. The beds were comfortable, the room a fair size if rather spartan. Worst aspect for us was that the interior corridors leading to the room were rather... More

For 100 Euros a night I guess it wasn't bad, this is my first trip to France so I wasn't sure what to expect. However, compared to an American hotel, there are some things that Americans may not quite like: No washcloths or hand towels, only bath towels No complementary soap or shampoo Small flat pillows (still debating which was... We were here as a group, prebooked for 20 persons. Limited menu, only 4 hamburgers, 1 portion of mussels! Entrecote steak ordered, small portion, poor quality. Came with salad, two lettuce leaves, no dressing. Frites (oven poor quality). poor service, food arrived in dribs and drabs.
