Thje Hotel Mercure is on the outskirts of the Town and away from the beach, however the rooms were clean and larger than the standard hotel room with a good bathroom and toiletries and the inclusive buffet breakfast was good and wide ranging. The Bistro 50 the restaurant on the site was well priced and had regional Norman food and a good wine list. We ate 2 supper salads the Normandy one was good with hot melted cheese and the lamb dish, we felt the desserts did not reach the standards of the main course.
Nevertheless I would recommend the hotel and the bistro for anyone wanting a short break here or doing the D Day landing beaches , Pegasus bridge and Caen, Bayeau.
