Staff were extremely welcoming, friendly, and it was clear our comfort was their priority. Provided free use of their garage for our motorcycles was a great help. Rooms clean and comfortable with air conditioning. Part of our visit coincided with a coach load of Spanish tourists which made breakfast the following morning a bit crowded. A good selection of breakfast... More

This convenience to the station may be an important factor if traveling on the Brittany Ferries. Exit the Station on the Pierre Mendes side through the station underpass. Don't use the front exit of the station by the buses. As you see the new shopping mall turn left. The Hotel is not in the tourist center of town, but the... More

Stayed here for a couple of nights. Nice hotel with clean, comfortable room with shower, A/C and free WiFi. Welcoming staff. About 15-20 minutes walk from the town centre. Very close to the rail station and across the road from a modern shopping centre. Breakfast is extra (and quite expensive), so we preferred to pop out for a coffee and... More

Our visit to Normandy consisted of 3 couples and my daughter. Our room held three comfortably. It was bright and sunny. Bathroom adequate. Elevator so that you didn't have to carry luggage up the stairs. Great location, within walking distance to the train station. Extremely convenient location. Breakfast was not included and was very expensive. However, no restaurants near were... More

The Inter-Hotel de France is very near the port of Caen & within walking distance of the train station. My wife & I have now stayed there five times. The hotel staff are always very welcoming & ready to help their guests. We normally stay here on a Saturday night after travelling from Portsmouth on Brittany Ferries. We return at... More

The room and bathroom were small but that is typical in Europe, also, TV was small and distant from the bed. Otherwise, it was clean comfortable. The staff was nice and helpful. The location is good, very close to the train station, 5 minute walk and about 10 to 15 minute walk to the historic section of town. Tram runs... More

I stayed here for a couple nights in sept 2014 and my room was on the second floor. It smelled like the food from the kitchen. The hotel is older and had a musty older smell mixed as well. All the furniture and decor is extremely dark. The walls had stains on them and dirt near the air conditioner. This... More

Close to Centre and the bus drop from the ferry landing. The owner is also the chef and a very friendly chap as well as his German Shepard Tango. The bathroom was a little small but that is typical for Europe. I found my room to be clean and there was plenty of hot water for your shower. Eduoard at... More

Room was a basic double room, just for one night, clean and quiet. The breakfast food was good, however I found the coffee from the machine tasteless. The hotel is in an ideal position, a short walk to the centre and not far from the ferry terminal. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was basic but clean.

The Hotel de France was a good choice for our time in Caen and for taking a day tour of the Normandy D-Day beaches from Bayeux. Our room, while not particularly modern, was more than adequate for our stay and was very clean. Anthony, who worked nights while we were there, had great English and was very helpful to us....
