Visiting Normandy for the first time, we stayed at the Ivan Vautier hotel in Caen. It turned out to be a wise decision to make a reservation for the amazing restaurant at the hotel. My sister ordered the recommendation of the chef which is a surprise for each course!! She "trusted the chef" and boy was she glad she did!!!... More

We stayed here in June as we wanted to visit the Normandy beaches, dad was here in 1945 and we visited on fathers day. The hotel is easy to locate, has good secure parking and is within 15 mins walk of the town. We stayed for 2 days and requested a small quiet room. The room was small but also... More

Ivan Vautier Hotel is on the edge of the city so you will need a car (free parking available). The location also makes it very quiet. Our room was very spacious and well designed aesthetically but not functionally (e.g., no towel racks other than the heated one which had robes hanging on it). The biggest disappointment was the very pedestrian... More

This hotel was not centrally located. There was only one restaurant in the immediate area (The Villa Eugene - which was excellent). The room we had was a Junior Suite -- very large and lovely accommodation. The service in the restaurant in the hotel, which is a one star Michelin, was terrible. We sat for 30 minutes without getting any... More

It is not located in the centre of town but since we had a car the location did not pose any problems for us. In fact, it was rather easy to reach all our destinations. The hotel is modern with very well executed decor and color scheme. The two rooms we stayed in were both, while not large, well organized,... More

The hotel property itself is very nice. The rooms are large by rural French standards, so those who say otherwise probably are not familiar with the local standards. The rooms are also quite well appointed and in great condition. I did not have any concerns over "TLC" as a few other reviewers reported, and I have very high standards. The... More

Booked this hotel totally by chance after reading reviews, and found it to be an excellent choice. Lovely modern rooms with really deep bath and huge shower. The resaurant really is a must, the food is something else, staff are friendly and attentiive, we would happily recommend this gem to all.

What a huge diss appointment. On arrival we couldn't get access to the hotel - we had to phone them to get let in. We were apparently given a larger room but it wasn't huge so I really don't know if we were just told this. Our room was tired and in need of TLC. The complimentary tea and coffee... More

Best continental breakfast we've had probably ever. Home made jams and 3 of them so this bodes well for their restaurant which we were unfortunately unable to sample as we arrived late and left early. Bedroom was very modern and well appointed as was the bathroom will definitely stay again.

This was a decent hotel with a very good restaurant on site however I found the location to be a bit odd. It was good for us as we were driving to the beaches of Normandy during the day but it felt like the suburbs of town. Our phone didn't work but overall I thought the staff were very gracious...
