My friend and I travelled to visit the D-Day landing beaches. Having arrived at Caen & visited the beaches nearby, the Clos de Bellefontaine in Bayeux appeared the ideal spot to stay. We were not disappointed!! A wonderful family home on the outskirts of Bayeux, but only about 5 minutes walk from the centre. The welcome from Carole Mallet was... more
The gracious hospitality of our hosts, Carole and Jerome Mallett enhanced the experience of our stay in a B&B. We were travelling with our 13 year old grandson and the spacious room was much appreciated as was the "common" room. Amenities, including beverages and snacks throughout the day in the common room added to the "home away from home" feeling.... more
My family spent two nights at this beautiful bed and breakfast and enjoyed every minute. The house itself is wonderful and the rooms are spacious. The common sitting room is very large and well stocked with teas, coffees and other snacks. The location is excellent (especially for exploring the D-day sites) and within walking distance of downtown restaurants and attractions.... more
First the bad news- it took us more than an hour to find and any of you who know husbands understand that is NOT a good thing! The streets are very windy- we stopped and asked for directions at someone but the girl only spoke French! Secondly after all that running around looking for it there was no place to... more
This was a very special place. It was charming, beautiful, and comfortable, inside and out. We stayed in Elegance, a large room with windows looking out to the inviting garden in the back yard. There was another large sitting room available to guests on the first floor, with a laptop available, comfortable sofas and hot drinks ready to be made.... more
Clos de Bellefontaine is a beautiful family home with the benefit of a separate wing for the B&B guests. Carole is charming, helpful and friendly and manages to juggle running a family of four children with keeping her beautiful house and B&B in great condition. The house is really well situated, with the centre of Bayeux an easy 10 minutes... more
We loved our stay. We spent 3 nights in Bayeux over Thanksgiving 2008 to tour the Normandy WW2 sights and to see the Bayeux Tapestry. Carole's directions were easy to follow, and the home has a gated drive with secure parking. We were in the "Room Elegance". This is a very large room with plenty of space to spread out.... more
My wife and I echo the laudatory comments of other reviewers about this B&B. We stayed there for 4 nights--2 nights in each of the 2 rooms. Madame Mallet (Carole) is an excellent hostess and has a real flair for interior decoration. The breakfast room is the most beautiful one we have experienced in our travels, and the meal itself... more
We really liked Clos de Bellefontaine as a central location for our stay in Normandy. It was a short walk to the center of town and Carole could not have been nicer. In retrospect, however, I probably should not have booked the room "Charme" for three nights. It's a bit difficult to see from the website that the tub is... more
