Bayeux is both ideally situated as a base to explore the D-Day beaches as well as being a good destination in its own right, particularly due to the presence of the Bayeux Tapestry. The Hotel Reine Mathilde is perfectly located in the centre of the city and close to the high street, cathedral, restaurants and the tapestry. Whilst its is... More

Great location in the middle of the very walkable town of Bayeux. 50 meters from where the D-Day beach tours start. My room was on the top floor, and was reasonable sized. I could hear doors slamming on the floor below, but otherwise was quiet with little traffic at night. New bathroom fixtures. Not the fanciest hotel but adequate. The... More

Good central location, fine if you like good restaurants and very quite bars. Clean with adequate food in hotel. D-day museums etc all close bye. Pegasus bridge , Grand camp Maisey a must in my book. American and British cemetery very moving. No dis-respect to other nationality's never had time to visit other cemeteries.

We stayed in a quadruple room (family room?) which actually had 3 single beds and a large (queen?) bed in the annex building - it looked like the annex was recently renovated and we were pleased with our accommodations. It was bigger than we expected and the best 2 star hotel we stayed at during our 3 week trip because... More

The room was a bit cramped, but the bed was extremely comfortable and everything was very clean. We took a trip to Mont-Saint-Michel and stayed overnight here before going to the Normandy sites. We had a great dinnner here. We highly recommend the steaks, burgers, and the meat and cheese platter if you decide to eat here. I had the... More

We stayed here 3 nights while visiting the Normandy beaches and D-Day historical sights. We stayed in the annex across the walkway behind the main hotel. We arrived late, and, after calling ahead, a clerk met us at the front door at 10pm to show us to our room and make sure we were comfortable. The staff was always cheery... More

Bayeux was a lovely, laid back place to stay for our Normandy explorations. We ended up eating both breakfast and dinner at Hotel Reine Mathilde each day as it was so comfortable. Our room was basic but quiet and comfortable. We arrived on June 21st, and enjoyed the French tradition of music on the streets, with a variety of local... More

We stayed here for 4 nights last month. The rooms were small but fine, quiet and comfortable. Staying at this hotel provided us with a wonderful base for exploring the Normandy beaches. The breakfast was very good and reasonable priced. The Bayeux tapestry was a 5 minute walks away and very interesting. Unfortunately, the wi fi did not work well... More

We stayed here a couple weeks ago for 3 nights. It was the perfect place to stay! My husband and I were in Room 1, just above the check in desk. The room was a little small, but it was no problem for the 2 of us. I think you can pay more to get a bigger room as well.... More
