Driving up to the property we were impressed by the lovely grounds with swans and geese swimming in the pond and the stately chateau sitting in filtered sunlight. Our room while large, needed new carpeting and new towels. The bathroom was large, clean and the walk in shower was roomy. We had a restful sleep but made a mistake sleeping... More

Located in an old chateau, this is a beautiful hotel. The room and bath were gorgeous. Room service breakfast was perfect. The young ladies who worked there were sweet and delightful. However, the front staff women were less than friendly, and they could practice smiling. They don't welcome you...just ask how many nights, people, and beds, and hand you a... More

We stayed in the chateau part of the hotel so I cannot comment on the more modern rooms that were in a separate part of the grounds. The view and surrounding gardens and pond were beautiful. The hotel itself was lovely however showed some signs of age. Most importantly the elevator did not work and we were made to carry our... I visited Chateau de Bellefontaine in January with friends as part of an off-season Normandy beaches trip. The hotel looks stunning, and the rooms were certainly adequate - though a little dated. Our party stayed for three nights and spent most of the time out and about, so time in the hotel was limited to breakfasts and sleeping. Unfortunately, the... More

My only experience in France was a weekend stay in Paris many years ago. What a wonderful country-inn atmosphere at this charming hotel just outside Bayeux. Loved the rooms themselves. Breakfast was great. The sitting room just to the right of the entrance was an oasis. One night they had the fire burning, which was a special treat. People in... More

Big room (at least in the carriage house( very accommodating. The restaurant was wonderful and though we arrived at 9:30 PM, offered to keep the kitchen open for us. We were the last to leave and still operator stayed until we were ready to leave and was very informitive of local attractions and how best to do them. It is... More

My family and I stayed here last Spring. We have two pre-teens, and a toddler. Our room was located in the renovated stables. The kids' loved the loft, ducks, and room to stretch. We had plenty of space for our family of five. The owner was quite lovely, and made us feel right at home. For dinner, we decided to... More

Madame greeted us as long-lost family, and the rooms were all charming and well provisioned with local wines and spirits! The lack of a modern shower did little to damped the feeling that here was something unique. We were made welcome guests outside in the sunshine, and the regular arrival of refills ensured an atmosphere of bonhomie. The seafood on... More

Stayed for two nights, grounds are charming as is the Chateau, staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is within walking distance of Bayeau, but 800m gets you to the edge of town! It's a good 10-15 min walk in reality. Duplex rooms are very modern book the chateau rooms if you want to stay in the main house. Charming,... More

First, the Chateau and grounds are lovely. If you are a family traveling with children or teens, the suites in the old carriage house are wonderful accommodations. We also had rooms 5 & 6 in the main Chateau during our stay. Room #5 is the updated model room, and it is beautifully decorated. Room 6 which is also nice, but... More
