The Chateau is not just a B&B as a previous writer said. Having previously stayed in a hotel in the town center I must say the location of Bellefontaine is perfect. It is old but what do you expect from a Chateau, but it is quiet and pleasant. The staff were all friendly and I would recomment it as a... more

The Chateau de Bellefontain calls it self a hotel but despite its name is only a bed and breakfast establishment. It does not have a restaurant. The welcome was decidedly frosty and the lady at reception seemed totally disinterested in our arrival. Rooms 11,12,14 and 15 are all on the 2nd floor in the former attic. Our room number 11... more

Stayed a few days in March '07. Staff seemed friendly. You pay extra for the breakfasts, but well worth it - I still dream about their bread and hot chocolate. There were plenty of parking spots. The exterior was nice - they have a little stream with swans. The location is convenient if you have a car. Too far to... more

My adult son and I recently stayed at the Chateau Bellfontaine and found it to be quite lovely and deserving of a good review. We were booked in for a one night stay through the owner of another hotel in Bayeux who could not accomodate us when we decide to stay for an extra night. Our room was on the... more

Recently stayed at Chateau De Bellefontaine with our family of 5 for one night. We had a large suite with one bathroom. The Hotel itself is very charming and the rooms were clean. It was fine for one night, maybe even 2, but I was glad we were not staying there for any longer. The staff was fine - not... more

Very dissapointing as It had did not look like the picture. The woman on the phone said we have beautiful suites if you pay an extra 60€, what we did. Result: a dupleix room, with just white walls, cold floor, horrible lights. We have wanted to change the room, but the woman at reception was really unfriendly (she needs a... more

This hotel is in a beautiful location, but it was decidedly average. The family suite is quite spacious but the main bedroom was dark and dingy. The bathroom was well below standard for the rates charged. The blind was broken when we arrived, which was a problem given the bathroom overlooks the car park. It was, however, fixed on the... more

The Chateau itself is set in some lovely grounds with a small lake and two swans. It was nice to also be out of the town but within walking distance and had good parking. My husband and I however felt that the staff were not very friendly and the room we had was dark as it was on the side... more

My wife and I stayed at the Bellefontaine for two nights in November 2005. It had a special rate: 2d night at half price (E140 to E70), so we splurged on a full size suite. These are in a separate building from the main house, very recently renovated and very spacious and clean, but quirky. The first floor has the... more

Just recently returned from my second trip this year to stay at the Hotel. This time I brought my elderly father to see his brothers grave in one of the many British Cemeteries around Caen. I must say the Hotel Bellafontaine is in a superb location if you are visiting to see the British/American War Memorials. The gardens are are... more
