First of all, if you're arriving by car make sure you know how to find Villa Lara to avoid driving round and round the centre of Bayeux. Most of the other major hotels are signposted so - if all else fails - follow the signs to Hotel Churchill which is next door. The next important thing is to ask at... More

Not a large hotel but one of the best we have ever stayed in in Europe. Service was very personal without imposing and all the staff had a "can do" attitude. Everything about this totally updated hotel i.e. lobby, intimate bar, fixtures, bedding, towels and furniture matched the villa.setting. We will go out of our way to stay there when in France

This is a very comfortable hotel, designed for the American guests (75% of Bayeux tourists) -- large rooms, well-decorated, fine linens, well-designed, large bathroom, showers, etc. Staff is attentive, speak English and French. Breakfast is a bit pricey, but looked good

With a lot to see and very little time to see it in, the location of the hotel is terrific, although finding it by car was challenging. Service level was very high, the hotel itself an outstanding renovation and rooms were large and very well appointed. But you pay dearly for all this! For example, breakfasts were 25 euro a... More

Villa Lara is located in the heart of Bayeux. We stayed one night after spending two nights in a quaint bed and breakfast. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet. We could view the steeples of the cathedral and took a few photos. The following morning we had breakfast in their dinning room. My wife and I each had their... More

Perfect in every way. Room was large, absolutely clean, and well appointed. The wifi was very good and allowed seamless video Skype back home. The location is very good for a couple of day trips around Normandy.

Stayed with my wife for three nights whilst doing a D day tour. The hotel is excellent and in a great position . The reception staff are friendly and extremely helpful and booked for us at three great restaurants to eat at. They also made a hair appointment for my wife with a good hairdresser as we had been travelling... More

Villa Lara Hotel is very well decorated with beautiful furnishings. The staff does a great job as well. We stayed two nights there in a room that had a view of the cathedral that lights up in colors at night. It is indeed a special spot. Breakfast was very good. I was under the impression that it was included but... More

We stayed for four nights recently as we toured the D Day battlefields. I would echo others comments; friendly professional staff, large well appointed rooms, excellent breakfast buffet and very convenient location to restaurants, shops, the Tapestry and the Cathedral. A very charming Normandy town. A few rooms have balconies and ours had a great view of the Cathedral at night.

For anyone planning a trip to the Normandy Beaches, Bayeux is a great place to stay. Villa Lara is right off the main avenue, so you have the convenience of being close to the restaurants and shops without being on the main road. Staff are friendly and they offer nice suggestions for great eateries. Rooms are in excellent condition with... More
