I am a disabled driver and requested a parking space on the limited space car park. This could not be accommodated and the receptionist was unwilling to try and find a solution instead directed us to a blue badge space on the street that was fully occupied or to a place 5 minutes walk away! Our second negative experience was... more

Stayed at the Lion D'Or for one night in June and we chose it because it was convenient for visiting the Pegasus Bridge, WW2 landing beaches and Arramanche. Has a good central location in Bayeux. The hotel is traditional in style and located around a pretty courtyard. We stayed in the lowest category of room which overlooked the courtyard and... more

I stayed in Le Lion d'Or Hotel last week for a total of five nights with my husband and his parents. The purpose of our stay was do see museums, the beaches etc. relating to the World Wars. The Hotel was an extremely good central point for what we had planned. Walking distance to the Bayeux Tapistry and plenty of... more

Stayed 2 nights last week at this hotel. Wish I had made it a 3rd night, instead of spending the night on Mont St. Michel, but that's another story... The Lion d'Or is a very nice, comfortable, and charming hotel. Lots of history in this place. We had a "classic standard room" which is the cheapest room they offer. It... more

This hotel was incredible. My husband and I toured Normandy for a week in early May and stayed in Bayeux. The Lion D'Or is downtown off a main road but is set off the road in a way where you hear no street noise. This is the most peaceful, quiet and relaxing hotel I have ever stayed at. It was... more

The people at the Front Desk were quite helpful and kind. Our room was nice (we got 2 rooms for around $90/each, but I don't know what type they were: one room was a lot bigger than the other) and very clean. (I have an unscientific way of judging hotel carpets--my kids' socks. They were clean!) Take a walk around... more

My husband and I went to dinner at the Lion de Or restaurant on Saturday, September 13, 2008 and loved it. We had visited the War Memorial Museum (which was very interesting BTW--it even included some artifacts from 9/11). and the American Cemetery, which was awe-inspiring--It took our breathe away to see row after row of white crosses flowing towards... more

The location is great, the exterior very pleasant, the restaurant and lounge nice but the rooms are a sad story, even if they call them Executive Rooms. My was on the 3rd floor with no elevator. The carpet was dirty and disgusting, the furniture worn down and probably from the 60s or 70s and the bathroom about the same. This... more

We booked this hotel as a stop-over on our way to Benodet in Brittany as we thought it would be good to see the Tapestry. We arrived around 6pm and they had reserved us a parking space in their courtyard as requested. Lovely welcome, rooms were OK, if a bit tired and our bathroom could have done with a makeover.... more

I liked this hotel. It's nestled into an alley, so it isn't noisy. The rooms are great, the restaurant is good, and the staff is helpful. A very nice hotel. more
