The 'Grand' Hotel du Luxembourg bills itself as a 3 star charming hotel and restaurant in a 17th century building. However, when we checked in, we were led outside, across a courtyard and into the Hotel de Brunville, a modern hotel, not just lacking charm, but badly in need of redecoration. The room was dark. Some of the lights didn't... More

We had booked a room (through a travel agent) for June 2013 in February 2013. After traveling by rail from London to Paris to Caen to Bayeux (and dealing with a transportation strike resulting in a two hour delay) we arrived at the Grand Hotel du Luxembourg only to be cheerily informed by the hotel clerk they had no rooms... Very central location, walking distance to all downtown sights. Beds & bed linens could use some updating, blanket very frayed. Helpful, English speaking staff. English channels on TV Parking available for a small fee. Beautiful city makes up for short comings. Had planned on 1 night, spent 3!

Probably last decorated in the 70's the rooms look far better in pictures than in actuality. Ver dated decor especially the bathroom tiles etc. ( green with bucolic scenes ? ) The windows rattle in the wind and the mattress we had urgently needs replacing. Indifferent staff on arrival didn't help.

The hotel is one street away from the Centre Ville so is well located within easy walking distance of restaurants, the Bayeux Tapestry etc. It was a bit testing when we arrived as the reception staff did not speak English, meaning my French was really tested. However, the staff were pleasant and obliging, helping us to arrange our tours to... More

This hotel is within three blocks of the heart of downtown Bayeux so it is very convenient. It is clean but rather spartan with a bed that seemed to sit on the floor, very low. The bar seemed rather dark and not used much. There was a restaurant on site but we didn't eat there, choosing instead to get out... More

Stayed here in October 2012 while touring WWII sites. I loved Bayeux - it is a town one could visit again. This hotel, while extremely old, was centrally located in the older part of town. Very easy walks to restaurants, shops, the Cathedral and the Tapestry Museum. Our room was on the top floor of a very old section -... More

Front desk was good. Especially Marilyn. Room was cold, heat not on. No one offered a heater until asked directly. Towels well past their prime. Bed saggy. Soap situation poor, no shampoo. Shower abominable, tub slippery and hard to get in to. Parking OK. Wake up service unavailable. 12 euro breakfast not worth it. Better experience in third world.

We stayed here for one night on a road trip in Normandy. Location is great, right in the centre of Bayeux, walking distance to Tapestry, bars, cathedral and restaurants. Parking is 9 euros per night. The main reception is quite nice but the rest of the decor in the hotel is quite outdated. It is clean, however and reasonably maintained.... More

This hotel has a great location and is clean and quiet. Staff are helpful and pleasant Parking on site is available for €9 per night. We were able to find several great restaurants within walking distance. The beds are very uncomfortable and need to be replaced. I would not stay here again.
