Manoir des Doyens is a perfect British beachhead in the middle of Normandy. The inn, it's charming hosts Rosemary and the Colonel, and peaceful setting provide for a rich experience. The inn is cosy, very much like staying with relatives and perfect for the price. The daily continental breakfast has local fresh assorted breads, pastries, homemade jams, fresh fruit and... More

It is very hard for me to write this review because Rosemary was outstanding communicating with me. She was very sweet, and very accommodating. She left shortly after we arrived to attend a family function, but left us under the care of her friends, Caroline and Collin, and they were terrific. The location is wonderful; it is a very pleasant... More

Stayed for 4 nights. Great place, lots of character (French building, English hospitality). Rosemary very welcoming and full of advice when asked for local eateries. Room large and plenty of storage. Narrow gateway to get the car through but plenty of space in the courtyard to park. Breakfast continental with lots of home-made preserves, excellent, everyone sat at one table... More

quirky old manor house which was used by the allies as a field hospital in WW2 - and the barn was used to house German prisoners; very reasonable price; good breakfast; the Colonel had lots of advice to give on where to go and the background to the battlefields; library full of interesting books on the area and WW2 in... We absolutely loved our week with Rosemary and the Colonel, but you should read the other reviews to see if this is the place for you. Someone else hit the nail on the head, it is exactly like staying with your Grandmother - if your Grandmother happens to own a manor in France. We enjoyed our conversations with the Colonel,... More

We just spent 4 nights at Manoir des Doyens while exploring Normandy and the D-Day beaches. Rosemary and the Colonel were very gracious hosts. The rooms were comfortable and breakfasts consisted of fresh baked breads and croissants with homemade jams. Rosemary is a wonderful conversationalist in a proper English style while the Colonel is an undisputed on all matters relating... More

We stayed with the Colonel and his wife for a research trip when our son was documenting facts needed for a paper and presentation on WWII and D-Day. Breakfast was hearty and delicious but some of the conversation was a little uncomfortable. Although the rooms are not fancy, the location is very close to Normandy Beaches, also where the gliders... We stayed here for a couple of nights in September. We had great difficulty in locating the Manoir run by Rosemary and the Colonel. Queries to people in the village of St Loup Hors proved unsuccessful. However, when we eventually found the place it is really very charming and quite beautiful. Rooms are basic but comfortable and the price is... More

We stayed here for two nights at the beginning of September and it was certainly memorable. The location is fine to walk into Bayeux - we did it a couple of times a day and it took about 15 minutes. Just remember to take a torch at night, since the lane past the church has no street lights. Rosemary is... More

We recently returned from our holiday in France and spent 3 nights at Manoir des Doyens. Rosemary is a charming lady who could not do enough for us. She recommended restaurants in Bayeaux, where we enjoyed some delicious food.Rooms were basic but comfortable and breakfast was sufficient (reasonable rates). Location was great for seeing the WW2 museums, graves and beaches.
