Across my reviews the class/mode of travel varies enormously and this one is of an Alfa Tours experience - excellent value for money! The block booking, with tight money margins, into this hotel in this village was the first surprise. Proprietors, French chef Mannu and his English partner Sally are excellent managers, providing lovely rooms overlooking the street which are... More

We stay at this amazing hotel in this wonderful village as part of a Alfa travel coach holiday. The hotel has an oldie world charm about it, complete with creaky floor boards and shuttered windows. The room was very clean and comfortable The staff were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them. Sally and Mannu owners of the... More

I stayed at this hotel as part of a coach party. OK it was not modern or state of the art but it had character and was comfortable, scrupulously clean and homely. The staff were helpful and friendly - I even tried my French with them! Sally, one of the owners, was English and was very helpful and friendly. She... More

Stayed at the Lion D'Or as a coach group. Entry to the village was through a rough-hewn angled tunnel through the rock which tested the modern-day coach driver's ability! The Hotel is set against the cliff face on one side of the single village street, with the restaurant across the road. The lift was tiny - very intimate when four... More

Came as part of a coach group to visit the Dordogne. The newly-refurbished room was exactly as I had booked. It was of a good size and spotless. The window looked straight down into the narrow street below which was very quiet and atmospheric. Few people were to be seen after 8 pm. The bed was excellent and the shower... More

I was expecting quaint, I got disgraceful. The hotel looks charming however once inside it is linoleum overkill! Our room was awful, the carpet not fitted, the wallpaper was the sort of washable stuff my grandmother had on her kitchen wall. The bedspread looked exactly the same as the table cloth in the restaurant. Breakfast was a farce. A bit... More

I found my single room tired but clean, fairly good value for a Hotel in the centre of town. Breakfast at 8 Euros was a disappointment, buffet limited and given a piece of a bread and a croissant in a basket neither were particularly nice. Did not bother with it on the second morning, my travel companions agreed with this... More

This. Hotel is over 200 years old the rooms are a little tired, but comfortable. We had a room with a small balcony which over looked the high street which is very narrow and vibrant. The restaurant in the hotel is across the road opposite the hotel. Food very good always hot, the only thing that let it down was... More

The room was nice and beds comfortable, the window was tiny but the view very good. We didnt take bf, so cannot comment on that, it was not included in the price. And the price was very nice, 55 eur per 2 persons. wifi was free but almost non-existent in our room.

The hotel du lion d'or is built into the side of the huge rock formation in the centre of Rocamadour, where the castle tops the fantastic village. Sally and Many are the hands on owners and nothing is too much trouble to ensure your holiday is great. Great service, good comfortable rooms_ not large as they state in hotel details.... More
