Avoid this hotel at all costs. We were allocated two rooms - both had the bizarre shower curtain as a door-type arrangement with very noisy toilets. We were unable to stay in one of the rooms because of the infestation of moths and the smell in the room. Reception were not that interested, but did spray the room whch killed... more

Arrived late afternoon and booked room through tourist office. Appearance outside and at reception was good. Did not even mind that the garage was a ten minute walk away from hotel. However the bedroom was appalling. It was small, had only a curtain between the bedroom and bathroom, smelt mouldy and flushing the toilet sounded like a depth charge. We... more

After reading all the negative reviews for this hotel we were hesitant to stay here. There are not many choices in the Verdun area and decided we could withstand one night and booked at the rate of 118 EUR. When we arrived the clerks were extremely nice and spoke English without any problems. We checked in after a tour bus... more

Stayed here as part of group, reception area clean, double room grubby, with antiquated bathroom, shower curtain divided bathroom from bedroom. WC had to be seen to be believed, bath was filthy. Room looked out on to river, Saturday night seems to be stag and hen night in Verdun, we were subjected to rowdy behaviour - including boats being dragged... more

We arrived in Verdun and selected this hotel simply by chance - it was closest to the Tourist office (which was already closed). The room itself was clean enough, but toward evening a terrible sewer-like odor began emerging from the shower drain. We closed the bathroom door for the night to contain the smell but the next morning it was... more

This Hotel is very expensive in both cost of rooms and cost of food in the hotel particularly the breakfast. The double room with shower room we had was primative. The shower room did not have a proper door, it was an ancient folding door which did not shut properly. The toilet had a very noisy macerator. The attitude of... more

Stayed for one wet night in June 2008. Nowhere else was avaliable late in the afternoon when I checked in with my wife. The place has little to compliment it. It is old and suffers from creaky floors everywhere. It is overpriced. The main restaurant has set menus from 45 Euros up to 98 Euros. It looked empty during the... more

A very overpriced and dated room, the bathroom is like something out of the 1970's. Although the communal areas do have some character, the exterior on the other hand is definately in need of some attention. With regard to the restaurant, the food was traditional, but the staff were stiff, uncaring and in deed insubordanate. Also, the garage is not... more

Had some concerns because of the mixed reviews but I can assure you that this is a good place to stay. The service is very good, the breakfast buffet is above average and the whole place is calm and quiet. Excellent location easy to walk into town sites, shopping and bars. The worst thing about the place is the creaky... more

We showed up in Verdun without a place to stay. After checking a couple of hotels with no luck, we found the Coq Hardi had a vacancy. I went up to check it out and I told my husband it was fine, which it was, and THEN asked the price. It was about €60 more than I expected! I've stayed... more
